RE: Cunning, hedonistic & manipulative - say Hi! to Baron Vladimir Harkonnen || FanArt

it would make sense, but it was a middle of summer, so there has to be some different reason.

That's wild. Makes me think of sun warmed wood, lots of wood. I'd love that.

That's scary!

I suppose, although I didn't feel afraid. There's no drought that brought it on. No idea what the news is saying the cause is since I don't watch or read the news. My intuition (the only thing I trust) tells me it's all highly suspect. I don't need to know details, that's enough for me. 😂

Sort:

I look at it from the point of view of a farmer's daughter:)
There is also a big drought in Poland as well, which means that not only will food be expensive, and not of very good quality.
Above all, it means that when the ground dries out enough - when it finally rains, there will be a flood. We have had several of these in the past. My parents don't live in or near a floodplain, but nevertheless it's always a great tragedy.

😂 Farming in your blood. Plus the fishing. Is there hunting and trapping too?

Is it just Poland that's experiencing a drought at present? Definitely that will drive up the cost of food and impact quality. One extreme to the other if a flood follows. Since your parents aren't in or near a floodplain, that tells me the flooding will be extreme.

To be honest, I moved out of my family village at the first opportunity. Don't get me wrong, I like the countryside and respect the hard-working people wholeheartedly, but I wouldn't want to go back for any reason.

I fish with a hidden agenda - to spend time with my Dad. Privately, I find it the most boring activity in the world, even though I love the water:)

I completely don't understand people who hunt, especially if someone claims it's a 'sport'.

Setting a traps - I think that everyone who does such things deserves to step into such a lovely 'thing' once.

Don't get me wrong

I grew up in a village. I can't imagine having stayed there, or moved back to it. Let's just say it's all a bit familiar.

I read that you said that. I thought it was endearing. Fishing I grew up with. The only kind that bores me to death is where one is sitting in a canoe/tiny boat on a lake, going nowhere all day.

Hunting and trapping were things I grew up with also. Where I'm from, it's about food for survival, meat for the family with any extra to be shared with other family and the community. Same with our garden. It's a part of the culture where I'm from. I see it simply as a way of life for some but not for all.

Sport hunting or fishing for that matter are things I don't even understand, nor do I want to.

Traps can be cruel, absolutely. That said, what is not cruel about food production, even plants.... (I started reading The Hidden Life of trees btw).

Village mates! 🙌

That's my dads favourite kind, or sitting all day in some calamus with waders on your feet, or on a pier on a lake. I like silence, I like water, but this is drives me insane, I have no clue why.

I can understand hunting for food purposes, completely. I just don't understand how people how it became sport.

My brother worked for more than a decade in Ireland's largest meat company, mostly in management positions, but nevertheless knows the whole process inside out. So, I know the subject all too well :(

I would love to hear your though when you are ready:)

Village mates! 🙌

Totally!

Now I know why you're not a fan of fishing. Calamus is useful though. My kind of fishing is either tramping through the woods in back country along brooks or rivers. If not that, then on a small fishing boat out in the Atlantic. I don't count clam-digging or mussel gathering as fishing, but I have enjoyed those also.

I get the impression you prefer to be in motion. I'm not one for staying still unless I'm doing some type of mediation, sleeping, or so sick/injured that I can't move much.

I just don't understand how people how it became sport.

I don't either. I gave up trying.

So, I know the subject all too well :(

I had the feeling you were acquainted somehow. It's horrendous.

I would love to hear your though when you are ready:)

I'll let you know when I'm finished it. The intro mentioned the story I told you about giraffes and gave more detail than what my friend told me.

Never have I try that, it is actually on my list 'to do things':)

I can sit for hours if I have to, but I hate it, I just have to get up every now an then and just walk around, play with cat, or go for a walk. Even if I have plenty stuff to d o - I will find excuse to get up - even do the dishes or something :D
