Hello everyone! How are you guys doing? I hope it's well.
My today’s illustration is a moth girl who just woke up from her sleep. As we all know that moths sleep in places that help them stay camouflaged with nature. So I decided to draw the moth girl in a field of flowers but before that first, let me tell you guys where I did this illustration. This illustration was done in ibispaint x. As always when I start with one app, I barely leave that any sooner. Also, I like the facilities this app gives me. I am able to have a good background and also different texture marks that are not available in other applications. If you like adding details and want different options, try ibispaint x, it is fun and easy. Well guys, why don’t we first start with the sketch of the moth-girl now?
Here I tried to sketch the girl in a pose like she is stretching herself as she just woke up from sleep.
In this part, I used two layers with two different opacity to give the translucent look of her wings. First I colored the back wings with a paint bucket and put that layer in 60% opacity. Then in another layer, I again colored the front wings and put that layer in 70% opacity.
Later I decorated the wings. I used the ‘dip pen (hard)’ tool to draw a design, just a random design. After that, I duplicated that layer and shifted and resized it to the shape of the wings. When all the designs are done to the shape of the wings in the duplicated layer. I merge them all together and put that layer in the screen effect.
I don’t know if you guys have noticed or not that most moths are hairier than butterflies. Therefore I add fur around here. Now first I colored the whole fur area with a paint bucket then I used the ‘oriental (shan shui)’ tool for shading. It’s the perfect tool to show bold and perfectly blended shading at the same time.
Next is nothing much here, just colored her outfit matching to her wings and fur.
Now guys can you see how the shading colors are out of the bordered line which is why I always make use to select that area before shading. Unfortunately here I forgot to do it and I couldn’t go back to doing it all over again or erasing it while straining my eyes. Here for shading, I used the airbrush tool.
Here I used the ‘hair’ tool to color her hair which to me doesn’t look good. I normally use the airbrush for the shading of hair. Oh well! Anyways for her antennas, I used the ‘wedge’ tool.
Here I first colored and drew one flower then duplicated that many times just so I could resize and shift the flowers to fill up the background.
And then at last the stems of the flowers. That’s it, the end of today’s post. I hope you guys have enjoyed my today’s post and the illustration until the next post, see you guys. Bye-bye for now. Take care.
