JAVA JAGUAR (a webcomic)
by Matt S. Law (a webcomic creator)

SnV, you didn't include a city with your question for Matt, so I made one up for you. I could have emailed and asked, but I already started writing the gag, and I couldn't take the chance that you aren't in an American city. Although, coffee shops are probably equally ubiquitous through most European cities as well.
Not sure why I picked Deerborn, I've never even been to Michigan. I would have used the city that has had the most visits to Java Jaguar in the past 7 days according to Google analytics, but ever since the site was hacked the analytics data is all screwy and Singapore accounts for 90% of my site traffic. Also, is Singapore a city in addition to a country? I could look that up but it's easier to just ask random questions here. Is Singapore full of coffee shops?
Hey, maybe all those Singapore visits are legit Java fans... But then, I wouldn't have had over 3000 blocked log-in attempts. And do all those blocked log-in attempts count as site traffic when calculating ad revenue?
...
Sorry for the long absence. Nothing earth-shattering happened. I was just being lazy and self-pitying/punishing. Today was the first day I even opened Clip Studio Paint in almost 2 weeks. At the same time this new Java strip goes live, there will also be a new panel over at Real Superheroines LIVE! The LIVE! site will resume it's daily panels, but the password has changed. If anyone would like the new password just ask for it. 10 Kick Points for access to Real Superheroines LIVE! Unless you are a Patreon supporter, then you already have the new password. Thanks, all.
Murica!
Boilerplate:
JAVA JAGUAR is a webcomic based on the true story of a talking jaguar cub found in a coffee shop. Yes, I said based on the true story. Java Jaguar is produced by the nomadic cartoonist, Matt S. Law, on his mobile art studio consisting of Clip Studio Paint Pro on a Microsoft Surface Pro 7+.

Created in Clip Studio Paint Pro on a Surface Pro 4. Here is the time lapse video plus bonus animation.
In most UK towns there are plenty of coffee shops. That seems to be a booming business when other shops are shutting down. I think that before Starbucks came along it was less of a thing. You would get basic cafes (or 'caffs'), but the coffee in those would not be great. People expect better these days and we have plenty of coffee snobs. I will try to avoid the big chains when I have a choice.
!LOLZ
Coffee shops used to take the place of the local pub I think, but less so lately since all the young 'uns just hang out in there on their miscellaneous devices. Well, myself included.
Well pubs are not doing so well. Some of those have been around for hundreds of years, but the drinking culture has changed. Some of them try to cater for the coffee crowd too.
That's too bad. I feel a social drinking spot is a good thing for society. I remember during the Covid shutdown that the oldest pub in England closed down.
It's actually Dearborn..

Oh.... So, they don't have deer there??
They used to.. until they started drinking the water
Since I didn't specify Michigan in the strip, I just checked to see if their is a US city called "Deerborn." There is not, HOWEVER...! There is a neighborhood called Deerborn within the city of Dearborn. Saved!
Poor quadrupeds. I shall write them a letter...
Dear, Deer of Deerborn, Dearborn.
