Here is another abstract exploration with 3d geometry and materials in 3ds Max and Adobe Dimension.
This is a combination of a twisted plane in 3ds max with some polygonal edits and a twist modifier on it.
I rendered out a few versions of the geometry with different materials on it to blend it in photoshop.
Here's the geometry pass from the psd file that Dimensions rendered out.
Also the z-depth pass. This is useful for applying a depth blur to the rendered out image. But it looks pretty interesting by iself as well.
Here is another view of the twisted plane. For this view I loaded a colorful environment light to interact with the shiny surface of the geometry.
Here's the matte black version, very Batmanesque.
Another view that appears more wavy. I love how aiming the camera at different angles on abstract forms can spark the imagination.
The matte black version of the same view.
Here's a combined composition of the matte black render and the color render using photoshop masks between two layers. This spinny looking geometry makes me want to add some animation in 3ds max. It would be fairly easy to to a spinning loop. The only problem is the render time would be forever.
Thanks for looking :-)
Very interesting and captivating design. I had to coin my eyes repeatedly to grab the flow.
Thanks :-) hopefully animating it won't cause the eyes to cross too much lol.

Oh cool! I love the top image, what's that in the background?
If the final result will be worth the forever it takes to render maybe you should? ;D
Background is just a fractal I rendered in jwildfire for my latest video.
