Hey Hive!
We're back again with another Art Attack! If you're new to the series, this is where I share my drawings and the process behind them. A behind-the-scenes look at my artwork, if you will. This is not to say that I'm very good at art, or that I'm a professional in any way. In fact this is the opposite, and serves as a reminder to how I first started, and lets me track my progress too!
Since I started streaming on Twitch in 2021, I think my art has improved quite a bit, so I wanted to rework some of my emotes for subscribers! If you didn't know, emotes are like emojis you can use on Twitch chat and while there are some global ones you can use for free, there are also channel-specific emotes you get when you are subscribed to a channel.
I previously shared some emotes I did a while back:

But now that my art has improved and I have more emote slots thanks to some generous supporters, I wanted to rework some of them.
One of them is this swole/buff emote that initially looked like this:

I think I did this back in 2021, and it's so rough I didn't even bother putting this on Twitch but rather on a third party site where people can get emotes for free.
Last year, I finally reworked this one because I found a much better reference for it. Initially the sketch was either going to be like this:

Or like this:

Ultimately I thought the first one was better since it didn't have too much negative space. Since emotes are only 500x500px large and get scaled down to 52px in chat, I wanted to utilise as much space as possible.
After that I had some options for the facial expression but I couldn't really decide on which one, so I let my community vote for it on stream! I put it to a poll while I was live since I worked on this on stream and it came down to a tie between 1 and 2 actually. Ultimately we had a tiebreaker and 2 ended up winning, which I thought was more fitting since it's more expressive.

This was actually from a character from Spongebob Squarepants. I don't really know this character but I thought his face was perfect, especially since he is swole as well.

If you're interested, here's a video I showed of the poll on my stream, and we also discovered some funny meme videos as well.
After that it was pretty simple, I just outlined and coloured it based on my TacoCat colours.

After that I added some shading and highlights and it was done!

I think it came out really well actually and a my chat really liked it as well so I was glad. I worked on quite a few more since then but I'll share them another time.
Thanks for reading!
