“The problem with dictatorships—as I read somewhere recently—and with poisonous ideologies, too, is that they are like sharks. They must keep moving forward or die. What caused their aggression is not what you did. It's who they are.”
― Robert A. Heinlein, The Puppet Masters
this is another one of my early works - it dates from my 3rd year at the University of Lethbridge, but was not one of the works submitted in the Art Department, just something I created for my own enjoyment. I thought of it more as a illustration for a Psychology class paper.
mixed media drawing, colored pencil and acrylic on mat board - 21½ x 14 inches - 1981
The model for this was a medieval Morris Dancer (Erasmus Grasser, 1480)
I remembered, but surprised myself that I found this image on the web!
This is currently only available as a print on DeviantArt - I have no idea where the original is. It may still be in my Canadian Studio, unframed. So if it is, it would likely be in a stack of other older works. The camera exif data is from March 2007.

MY INTRODUCTION - ABOUT MY WORK
I absolutely love this! The concept, style, colours....
This is one of the best things I have seen all year!!
1981 too!!! When I was born!!
Great stuff!! 😍
Thank you - now it I did it today, I could do better.
Very nice...immediately it reminded me of one of the more esoteric tarot cards (if such a thing is possible). A fascinating image to share given the state of the times - thanks for the share!
Thank you - I thought about this one while having a discussion about control. I actually had to search for quite a while in my old files to find it, until I remembered that maybe I uploaded it to DeviantArt way back when. So I was able to locate it by exif data.
I really like it - very synchronous given today's world and climate - a fitting image with everything going on
