The Weight of Despondency | El peso del abatimiento

Hello everyone, before I begin, I hope you are all well, I am sharing with you a new illustration, "The Weight of Despondency." The work presents a woman completely submerged in water, with her body descending into the depths. Her head is tilted downwards and her arms fall limply at her sides, symbolizing the weight of despondency and disconnection. The water, which completely envelops her, reflects the feeling of being trapped, isolated in an invisible internal struggle.

For this work I used watercolor, as it allows me to freely express myself and feel the fluidity of water as a healing medium, as well as being a technique that adds a touch of lightness, suggesting that even in the darkest moments there is room for movement and change. The soft gradients and nuances in the water imply that, although the descent may be deep, it is not final. I have had people with depression at my side and in my life I have had to live through moments of total despondency, knowing the pain that is felt, that is why this work invites us to reflect on the importance of recognizing the emotional struggle and the crucial role of loved ones as a support network that can help break the silence and emerge from the depths.

Hola a todos, antes de comenzar, deseo se encuentren muy bien, comparto con ustedes una nueva ilustración, "El peso del abatimiento". La obra presenta a una mujer completamente sumergida en el agua, con su cuerpo descendiendo hacia las profundidades. Su cabeza está inclinada hacia abajo y sus brazos caen inertes a los lados, simbolizando el peso del abatimiento y la desconexión. El agua, que la envuelve por completo, refleja la sensación de estar atrapada, aislada en una lucha interna invisible.

Para esta obra usé la acuarela, ya que me permite de forma libre, pude expresarme y sentir la fluides del agua como medio sanador, además de ser una técnica que agrega un toque de ligereza, sugiriendo que incluso en los momentos más oscuros hay espacio para el movimiento y el cambio. Los suaves degradados y los matices en el agua insinúan que, aunque el descenso puede ser profundo, no es definitivo. He tenido a mi lado gente con depresión y en mi vida me ha tocado vivir momentos de abatimiento total, sabiendo el dolor que se siente, es por ello, que esta obra invita a reflexionar sobre la importancia de reconocer la lucha emocional y el rol crucial de los seres queridos como una red de apoyo que puede ayudar a romper el silencio y emerger de las profundidades.
