En Splinterlands hay personajes para todos los gustos. Si bien no tengo todas las cartas del juego, puedo dibujar los que llaman mi atención. De esa manera, elegí este monstruo, cuyas características me parecieron divertidas para plasmar lo que quiero. Leyendo su historia, ella es un la profeta Rosa, un Minotauro quien busca reducir el caos ocasionado por individuos invasores. Para ello debe ir al sur, donde encontrará las respuestas para restaurar la paz del lugar donde vive.
In Splinterlands, there are characters for all tastes. Although I don't have all the cards in the game, I can draw the ones that catch my eye. That's how I chose this monster, whose characteristics I found fun to use to express what I want. Reading her story, she is the prophet Rosa, a Minotaur who seeks to reduce the chaos caused by invading individuals. To do so, she must go south, where she will find the answers to restore peace to the place where she lives.

Quise llevar al personaje al futuro, uno donde ellos están alegres porque recuperaron lo que era suyo. Por eso, como esta carta tiene elementos como el tambor y su baqueta. La dibujé en una posición festiva, como invitándote a una contagiosa fiesta tradicional. Esta vez hice el boceto con lápiz, porque esa posición se me dificultó al inicio. Y tuve que borrar varias veces. Luego lo pasé con tinta.
I wanted to take the character into the future, one where they are happy because they got back what was theirs. That's why this card has elements like the drum and its drumstick. I drew her in a festive pose, as if inviting you to a lively traditional celebration. This time I did the sketch in pencil, because I found that pose difficult at first. I had to erase it several times. Then I went over it in ink.
Una vez tengo la silueta, empecé a darle sombras. En esta parte, inicié por los objetos duros. Haciéndole una especie de malla para el sombreado. Esto me permite darle mayor intensidad a esas partes oscuras. Lo curioso aquí fue que olvidé dibujarle los cachitos. Luego de agregarle, le puse su respectiva sombra para darle volumen y resaltar la forma curva de los cachitos.
Once I had the outline, I started adding shadows. In this part, I started with the hard objects. I made a kind of mesh for the shading. This allowed me to give greater intensity to those dark areas. The curious thing here was that I forgot to draw the horns. After adding them, I put in the corresponding shadows to give them volume and highlight the curved shape of the horns.
Le siguen las telas u objetos livianos, ya que estos tienen movimiento. También le dí mayor volumen a los objetos duros. Incluido los cuernos.
Textiles and lightweight objects follow, as these have movement. I also gave greater volume to hard objects, including horns.
El cabello es una de esas partes que realzan a los personajes. Por eso quiero que salga prolijo. Por lo general los cabellos siguen las líneas de su peinado, en este caso su cabello es voluminoso. Para las partes blancas de su ropa y la piel utilicé la técnica de puntillismo. También le agregué la proyección de su sombra, como para darle mayor realismo. En este momento quería dejarlo así, solo con tinta… He visto por las redes, que ese es un estilo de arte. Uno donde se juega con las texturas, luces y sombras de los marcadores. Aunque, tenía la curiosidad de ver cómo quedaría con algo de color.
Hair is one of those features that enhances characters. That's why I want it to look neat. Hair usually follows the lines of the hairstyle, and in this case, his hair is voluminous. For the white parts of his clothing and skin, I used the pointillism technique. I also added the projection of his shadow to make it more realistic. At this moment, I wanted to leave it like this, just with ink... I've seen on social media that this is a style of art. One where you play with the textures, lights, and shadows of the markers. Although, I was curious to see how it would look with some color.
Para no quedarme con esa curiosidad, le agregué colores solo a los objetos que llevaba, ya sea puesto o como accesorios. También a su cabello y sus ojos, porque esto fue lo que en un inicio llamó mi atención del personaje. Esta vez quise que el personaje tuviese movimiento y como está en un ambiente de celebración le agregué serpentina, confeti (pica pica) y estrellitas luminosas. Todas celebrando por su triunfo de defender su pueblo.
To satisfy my curiosity, I added colors only to the objects I was carrying, either worn or as accessories. Also to her hair and eyes, because that's what initially caught my attention about the character. This time I wanted the character to have movement, and since she's in a celebratory setting, I added streamers, confetti, and sparklers. Everyone is celebrating her triumph in defending her people.
Volviendo a ver el dibujo, lo ví medio desaturado...como que le faltaba más énfasis en general. Por eso, cogí nuevamente los colores y lo pinté. Pero esta vez con mayor alegría, así como la profeta Rosa. En un inicio no quise resaltar el color de su piel. Luego me dí cuenta que esto era importante, porque de esa manera también resaltarían los azules, rojos y su ropa en general.
When I looked at the drawing again, it seemed a little desaturated... as if it needed more emphasis overall. So I picked up my colors again and painted it. But this time with more joy, just like the prophet Rosa. At first, I didn't want to highlight the color of her skin. Then I realized that this was important, because that way the blues, reds, and her clothes in general would also stand out.
Me encantó el desarrollo de este dibujo y todo lo aprehendido. Desde los bocetos para la perspectiva, el entintado hasta los colores y el ambiente festivo en representación de un pueblo triunfante.
Lo que le pasó a su pueblo me recuerda a múltiples pasajes de la historia de distintos pueblos, donde las conquistas, masacres, saqueos, genocidios y otras acciones mataron y/o desaparecieron a múltiples culturas del planeta tierra. Para mí las culturas son conocimientos vivos, ya sea poco o mucho, es conocimiento útil y puesto en práctica cada día. Además, la cultura incorpora ese pensamiento colectivo a lo largo del tiempo. Es una forma de vivir, es su lenguaje es un estilo de vida...es nuestra cultura.
I loved the development of this drawing and everything I learned. From the sketches for the perspective and the inking to the colors and the festive atmosphere representing a triumphant town.
What happened to your people reminds me of many passages in the history of different peoples, where conquests, massacres, looting, genocide, and other actions killed and/or disappeared many cultures from planet Earth. For me, cultures are living knowledge, whether little or much, it is useful knowledge that is put into practice every day. Furthermore, culture incorporates that collective thinking over time. It is a way of life, its language is a lifestyle...it is our culture.
