Last month, my eldest son turned 13. He said he is officially a teenager, thirTEEN-year old boy! It was Sunday on his exact birthday.
Earlier on, during lunch, he celebrated at Four Fingers with family and church mates. Then, my husband surprised him with a new phone but we used contracted phone line to get it. He was super duper stoked! At night, my Mum and Dad wanted to give him a feast and asked him to choose.
Guess what he chose?
Butter Prawn at Mei Keng Seafood Restaurant!! 🦐🦐🦐
I did blog on this restaurant few days ago but let's do it again because for this round, all the food was chosen by my eldest son, instead of my brother (in the previous post).
Him and his 'birthday cake' butter prawns!
He was so happy with his 'cake', he said he rather ate this and also cake was unhealthy, loaded with sugar, basically empty calories. He chose the creamy buttery one, because he loved the umami liquid on his prawns and fingers. Lol... This butter prawns dish was specially ordered for him alone but there were 8 prawns, so he gave away 3.
Other food he ordered!!!
'Kam Heong' lala
In direct translation it was golden fragrance clams. Cooked with some curry powder or 'kam heong' paste and also curry leaves. Really super tasty, it was equally as tasty as the other lala style in ginger wine soup. We loved it!
Deep fried salted egg squid
He couldn't get enough of this the other day he ate, so he wanted it again. Once again, we loved it here because they used real salted egg, not the paste one. Superb!
Yam Basket
He also ordered this mainly due to being recommended by the lady boss. However, this wasn't as delicious as other Chinese restaurants, the yam was undertaste and the vegetables was like hurrily cooked, till hard.
'Foo yong Dan' aka omelette
This omelette was delicious though. Inside the omelette there were tiny prawns, carrots, onions and some Chinese sausage and bbq pork cubes. All the children and myself loved this so much.
Curry Fish Slices
He also cravings for curry and my Dad said let's ordered curry fish slices. The restaurant used garoupa fish fillets, fish were fresh and the curry was superb. In it loaded with vegetables and beancurd. Highly recommended.
Salted Fish Pork slices
My brother added this because he said he wanted pork. Lol. This was cooked with thinly sliced pork belly, stir fry with dried chillies and salted fish. Wow, super duper tasty although abit too salty for us. Glad he added this one.
I am so proud of who he is becoming. He is so proud of himself taller than me now. Some people on the street like to remark him as super handsome and looked mixed but he is indeed 100% Chinese. May you continue to bloom as you journey into teenagehood. Know that whatever happens, Mummy Daddy got your back and will support you all the way. Muacks. And nope, I don't feel intimidated by your height. I feel proud of you growing taller.
