A Quick Practice Game

Greetings to all chess fans! I haven't written about my practice games (for Saturday Hivechess) lately. This is one game I enjoyed so much. I had an attacking plan in the middlegame that I followed and executed well.

The game started as a Center Counter Defense and was converted to a Caro-Kann Defense. 1. e4 d5 2. e5 Bf5 3. Nf3 h6 4. d4 e6 5. c3 c5 6. Bd3

I decided to exchange my light square Bishop since his is more active. I was thinking after he moves c4 then my Bishop has few good squares so better to trade it now. 6. ...Bxd3 7. Qxd3 c4 8. Qc2 Nc6 9. Nbd2 b5 10. a3 Nge7 11. O-O Ng6

We reached the position. Conventional wisdom says to attack in the side you are stronger. In this case I'm stronger in the King side due to my advanced e pawn. So I planned to push f4-f5 to begin the attack. 12. h3

I was planning to play Nh2 eyeing the g4 square. It also prepares f4 to attack in the King side. 12. ...Be7 13. Nh2 O-O 14. f4 Nh4 15. Ndf3

I offered to trade Knights to reduce his pieces and defenders in the King side. 15. ...Nf5 16. g4 Nh4 17. Nxh4 Bxh4 18. Nf3

After this, I'm ready to push f5. 18. ...Be7 19. f5 exf5 20. gxf5 Re8 21. Qg2

White is already winning. There are many threats that's not easy to parry in a blitz game. It's easier to find moves if you're attacking since the moves come naturally. 21. ...Kh8 22. Kh1 Bf8 23. Rg1

Threatening to win the pawn on h6. Recapturing with gxh6 will result to a mate on the g8 square. 23. ...Qe7 24. Bxh6 f6 25. Nh4

The Knight joins the attack threatening to fork the King and Queen. 25. ...Kg8 26. Ng6 Qc7 27. Nxf8 Kxf8 28. Bxg7+ { Black resigns. } 1-0

Black resigned since his King is bare and will be mated in a few moves.
