This was an interesting discovery, @stayoutoftherz. In an era of play to earn games everywhere, you are playing the very old game of chess. Experienced with playing it in tournaments, I was happy to see the game is still being played.
My experience is in my past, before computers were able to beat human players. How does that look to you today? How do you and your community play against each other today?
We use the platform lichess.org, it is free and you can play against other players or against a computer, it works quite well.
If we play in a tournament, we join and then the program pairs the players according to points achieved. Just give it a try next Friday!
