Dear Chessfriends,
the new season of Hivechess tournaments started (one hour earlier than last time) with 11 players. It was a very strong field with an average rating of 1879 (second highest in Hivechess so far) thanks to the participation of some strong players that only once had shown up in the last season! Would be awesome if they could come more often, so that the battle for the top ranks would be more intense!
At the end nevertheless @jaki01 could gain the first spot (with a stunning performance of 2321!), followed by a trio of followers, @catto000, @jrevilla (josephchess90) and @yazp (zulukill) who couldn´t reach him but could separate themselves from the rest of the field. Like in the first season I had a terrible start (also came late and missed out the first game) and ended up at the 5th position, ex aequo with @pereu4ivatel (drakOnb). @rafaelaquino (ajedrezclub2t) and @gingerbyna (Jeanjarrgh) could get the remaining tournament points, the others (@rodrook, @schamangerbert and
@maciejficek (XM9000)) had the unlucky places 9 to 11.

Payouts:
The winner of each round gets 8 points, the second 7,... and the 8th 1 point.
Season 2 goes over 11 rounds and all points are summed up. All Hivechess-related post rewards are pooled and 90% go to the price pool. The winner will get 30% of that price pool, the second 20%, the third 10%, the rest is divided equally among the other players active on Hive or Steem, according to the no. of rounds they have played. So everyone has a chance to get something and the more you play the more you win! Prices are payed out in Hive Tokens.

Next Friday we will try out again the Swiss Tournament mode, probably 5+0 or 4+1.
