Hivechess Tournament Round 1: @yazp was the winner!

in The Chess Community3 years ago (edited)

Dear Chess fans,

the first round of Season 7 "summer" was a 4+2 Blitz arena round with 18 players, the highest number so far (actually 19, but @maverieux000 (Keylix) played less than 2 games and thus was not counted). 2 brandnew Hivers joined, @anomadsoul and @ropavejero - a warm welcome! The average rating of 1766 showed that this time there was a good mix of strong and less strong players. I hope this trend continues!

At the end @yazp (zulukill) could win, in a very close fight with @jaki01 who was second. With a small gap @vjap55 landed on the third spot and I could end as 4th. Of note, @schamangerbert (HerbyW) and @sammy00 (migmag) could get remarkable 5th and 6th places, respectively, in front of players of a much higher rating! Congrats to All!
Our champion @sawkito played only 3 games - not enough to gain a single point today.

Due to his miss today, @sawko, even if he wins now all remaining rounds, it is not ensured that he will make it again to the top. But for sure we can expect from him a hell of a race to catch up!

The rules you can look up in the announcement post.

See you next week and as always - keep practicing!

Playing bad like me has not only disadvantages: after the game against @pereu4ivatel I wanted to know how I could have won in an overwhelming position and decided to check the situation before I made a really terrible mistake (I had 'forgotten' the black bishop at b2 and played 24. Nf6+??). With a clear mind without time pressure rather quickly I found a really nice and strong move - do you see it it, too?

It’s d6!

No clue at first glance. Waiting what others come up with.

OK, I will check tomorrow if there is any answer before I post the correct move.

You have changed ELO for me and @ropavejero, @stayoutoftherz

Wow. Just discovered this community. I used to play chess a lot in high school. Now I chill on the beaches of Thailand as I ride out this pandemic stuff and do my travel blog. Sounds like a good time to start playing chess again.

Indeed, just give it a try, next dates are this Friday (will be announced on this blog) and Saturday (organized by @schamangerbert).

oh, bist du wieder zu Hause?

Ja.
