Hive has inspired many people of what is possible. Money and centralization can’t conquer everything. This fight was us standing our ground, not giving an inch.
The hive blockchain have shifted the paradigm of pseudo-decentralized blockchain projects claiming to be community-led and immutable where as they are just perfect examples of partial centralization. For the first time since Steem lost its glories, a real community-led blockchain project has surfaced and Hive in its expertise has gone miles more to address the shortcomings of past and present blockchain projects, especially where it concerns community involvement, user experience and individual participation. Apart from its sophisticated technology, what appeals most about the hive blockchain is the community behind it, and the story of how it came about even adds more sugar-coats on a juicy fruit.
Community on Hive blockchain exceeds the normal orientation of a community and involves a wholesome participation of each and everyone who identifies with the community and an equal opportunity with a leadership structure which puts the community first before everything. Managing a community hence requires total dedication by the leader or the leadership team.
Just as we stated on our first ever statement on the Hive blockchain:
Building communities and encouraging the development of the culture of communism is a global goal. Social media serves as a tool towards the pursuit of this goal with different social media platforms giving birth to a number of successful social groups and communities of people bound by a common goal. The HIVE blockchain upholds the community culture and was born out of the zeal to maintain decentralization and encourage the sharing of worthwhile information and ideas devoid of censorship and mutations.
HiveAfrica has since its inception dedicated every effort towards promoting Hive as well as community related issues and concepts. With just one person pioneering the community and managing all its affairs, we have achieved a tangible but ‘Not impressive’ amount of success.
However, we have not relented in our efforts to improve on our current success and do more in our goal to promote the hive blockchain to the greater African population.
Since the creation of the HiveAfrica, community, we have amassed a handful of impression, gaining followers from the hive blockchain and also from platforms outside the Hive blockchain who picked interests from our campaigns. The HiveAfrica community till date have gained about ten (10) followers on the blockchain and over fifty (50) enthusiastic followers on twitter with our campaigns creating some real interests from the world outside and prompting people to join the hive blockchain and share stories about their African heritage.
We have created community guidelines which is not only aimed at maintaining orderliness in the community but most importantly to ensure that the community aligns with the goal of a perfect community structure. Hive blockchain is a hub of many interesting communities and HiveAfrica is just one of the numerous communities on the platform. We have aligned our supported content specifications to co-exist with that of other variant communities and further expand the scope of contents supported on the hive blockchain.
The HiveAfrica community is low on voting power, hence, the usual curation reward scheme is infeasible for the community at this point in time. To solve this issue, we introduced the ‘tipping as a reward’ concept to ensure that content creators on the community get a reward for their hard work.
This concept looks very feasible as we hope to improve on it. Despite not being tested out due to low participation currently, our reward concept still appears to be the most workable solution to authors reward at this point of our growth. Read our statement about this
We spend so much effort in promoting hive as a community and also as individuals because we believe in the dreams of the hive blockchain. Being a part of a just community where every member is accorded equal rights and given equal opportunity is the dream of every African child.
In a world where the black race has come under attacks by some ‘superiorists’ and the African government have in many instances dragged the virtues of a true community on the mud, creating a quintessence of a true community on the blockchain to welcome the disappointed African population is our desired goal. Hive blockchain hopes to do this for the world at large, HiveAfrica hopes to help it achieve this dream in the African region. This why we created this community and our vision is the same with the hive blockchain itself. We have set out to incorporate separate African communities on the platform.
Under the Umbrella of the HiveAfrica community, we are projecting our pioneer and sole community manager @joelagbo for the role of a Hive community manager.
Statement from the community manager
The hive blockchain have appealed to me from the first day of its creation, just like steem in its early and glorious days, hive itself is doing it right where steemit have failed. For this reason, I have grown the zeal to promote the hive blockchain and this is why I created the HiveAfrica community and have single-handedly managed all its affairs till date, we created a discord community with about forty (40) members and also a twitter profile where we have made some good impressions and hope to improve on everything we have achieved.
Personally, I have a wealth of experience in community management, having played (still playing) similar role for a couple of other cryptocurrency projects such as Pascal coin and managing a community of over 5,000 members, I have gained a good experience in pioneering the affairs of others and putting others first. Being on the steem blockchain since its early days and now with the hive blockchain, I understand the concept to a large extent. And I hope to bring these experiences to help the hive blockchain on its path of growth.
