Doing the Right Thing at the Right Time

in The Real Talk2 days ago

There is a lot of life experiences but one thing life has been teaching me slowly is that success is not always about being the smartest or the most talented it's all about doing what needed to be done. I must say, it’s just about doing the right thing at the right time. And honestly, that discipline is not easy at all. Many of us know what we are supposed to do, but we keep delaying it, giving excuses or waiting until we feel like it. I used to be like that too.

There was a time I would write plenty goals in my head thinking how to achieve it I wake up early, study, work, exercise, pray, save money, all those big big plans. But every day came and passed, and I would not do half of them. Later in the night, I would feel guilty about it but still not change anything. My life felt scattered because nothing was done at the right time.

Everything changed when I decided to start practicing discipline in small steps. I started writing a daily to-do-list not because I’m perfect, but because I was tired of seeing my life wasting away. It looked something like this:

Wake up by 6:30am

Read for 30 mins

Finish one important task before noon

No phone during work time

Sleep before 11pm

The first week was very hard. I failed many days, skipped some tasks, got angry at myself. But I kept trying. Slowly, my body and mind started adjusting. For the first time in a long time, I felt in control of my life instead of life controlling me.

I later realize that doing things at the right time doesn’t only help productivity, it gives peace of mind. When I finish a task early, I don’t panic later. When I sleep early, I wake up more calm. When I focus on what I should be doing instead of what I feel like doing, I feel proud of myself.

The truth is, discipline is not something you are born with it a something you build just little by little till your mind and body are committed to it, I still make mistakes, I still procrastinate sometimes, but I don’t give up on myself anymore.

Doing the right thing at the right time is not easy, but that’s exactly why it works. And the more we practice it, the more life begins to move forward in the direction we want.
