If I Could Turn Back the Hand of Time

in The Real Talk22 hours ago

This days I have engage in a lot of thinking like I just lying on my bed staring at the ceiling, this thought comes to my mind: If I could turn back the hand of time, what would I even do differently? It’s funny how life moves so fast that we don’t even realise how much we changed until we look back at where we started.

If I could go back, honestly the first thing I will do is pay more attention to my parents’ advice. When I was younger, it felt like they were talking too much. Every small thing “don’t do this,” “focus,” “be patient,” “don’t rush life.” I used to think they were just disturbing my peace. But now that adulthood is showing me pepper, I can finally see the wisdom inside their words. If time could rewind, I would sit down and listen properly, because truly, they were trying to save me from some mistakes I later entered with my full chest.

I would also fix some friendships I spoiled out of stubbornness or pride. You know when you’re young, you think you have the whole world ahead of you and people will always stay. But time teaches different. Some people we let go carelessly are the people we may never meet again in this lifetime. If I could turn back time, I would appreciate people more and say “sorry” more quickly.

Another thing I would do differently is believe in myself earlier. There are things I wanted to try before, dreams I had, ideas that felt big… but fear held me down. I kept thinking “what if I fail?” Meanwhile, the real question should have been “what if I win?” If time could rewind, I would take more risks and worry less about people’s opinions.

But even though I sometimes wish I could go back, I also realise something: every mistake, every delay, every heartbreak, every hard lesson helped me grow into who I am today. My parents always said, “Life will teach you what we can’t explain.” And truly, life has taught me plenty.

Maybe turning back the hand of time isn’t possible, but what I CAN do is learn from the past and make better moves in the present. The best thing about time is that even when it can’t go backward, it still gives us another chance forward.

And sometimes, that is enough.

Learning from the past and making better decisions is another way of going back in time without actually going. Your parents are right when they said life will teach you. It has taught you and you've learned from it.
