Is it always better to know the truth, even if it hurts, or are there times when ignorance really is bliss?
It's no news that ignorance can be bliss sometimes, but the truth remains the truth and nothing comes close to that.
Some truths change everything. No matter how you try to mend it, it's out and that's it. You just have to learn to live with them. It might hurt for a while but trust me it’s liberating from living a lie all your life.
We say we want to hear the truth but are we really ready to hear it? Are we really ready to accept the reality of it and deal with the consequences that come alongside the truth? I personally will love to know the truth no matter how hurtful it is, I’ll deal with the gravity of the truth in my own way and pace, so I do not need anyone to try to protect me from it.
Sometimes, the truth does not hurt as much as we think it does, it only depends on how it was revealed. Some truths are quite tricky and as an individual, you just need to know how to reveal them without ruining the entire purpose.
Choose your words wisely, be patient, be honest and be understanding too. You’ve made a good choice in revealing the truth, do not make your manner of approach thwart all your effort and the purpose of the revelation.
People should be blamed for reacting a certain way after the truth is revealed to them, do not act like you are doing the other person a favour. We all have various ways we process things so leave them alone. Do not expect an applause or open arms because you revealed the truth.
Again, Most people reveal the truth not because they are sorry or really want to, but because they are being compelled to do and in such circumstances, it defeats the purpose of the truth being revealed.
In conclusion, speak the truth and the truth will set you free!

That's eggxactly how I view it as well. No matter how bitter it might sound or be, just let me hear it. Then it will be up to me to decide how to digest the whole thing.
I might be angry upon the revelation but I will be angrier if the truth is kept away from me.
Just like you said, the manner it gets revealed also has a hand in how the other party will take it.
