It is often said that having so many ideas and not trying out one is as good as not having any idea, because what you have not tried before, you cannot tell how good or bad it is, and you cannot know the mistakes in that thing and find out the solutions.
I know most of us have the fear of failure or the fear of people laughing at us if we fail, that is why we avoid trying out new things and still remain stuck to the old ones. But the truth is, life is risky and it is also very risky if you do not take risks in life, which is why I personally prefer trying than living in regret. Because what you run away from today, you might still meet again. They say he who fights and runs away lives to fight another day.
I remember a neighbor of mine who learnt photography and was doing just fine. Along the line, he started complaining that the photographer was not paying him as much as he expected, so he was advised to go deeper into the art, to learn videography and how to use drones. He never wanted to stress himself, he kept saying it would take too much time. Even when his boss promised to teach him for free, he refused to calm down and learn. He used the little money he had to follow a friend and travel to Lagos, without mastering any of the skills he had started learning.
When he arrived there, the first three jobs he got were photography and videography work, and the pay was very good, but since he had not mastered the craft and had many loopholes, his pay was reduced and he did not earn much. At a point, other people who were more skilled took over the jobs from him, and he regretted leaving his boss without putting in more effort to learn what he needed to. He eventually had to come back and continue the training.
Truly, many dreams are buried in fear and doubt, we wish to play safe in everything only to end up living in regret. Let us always learn to take bold steps and live out our dreams, let us keep trying instead of stopping halfway, because the future holds greatness if we do not give up.

You're right. Many people have buried their dream because of fear and doubt. While all fear does is kill dreams.
Your friend saw an opportunity and choose to leave it. People are like that, they tend to always prefer the easier path.
