LESSONS FROM MY FAMILY.

We are all from a family and in our different families we surely have a story to tell right from our childhood days till date. The truth remains that since the home is the very first school that we all attended, we have one or more things that we learnt from our families, and most of those things are still keeping us or helping us now.

In my family, I will always thank God for most of the things that I learnt from my parents and till date I am still applying them. One very good thing that I learnt from my parents is contentment. My parents would always say “Yuko ke se anie,” meaning be contented with what you have, and they would add that as much as you are contented with what you have, you should always strive hard to gain more legally and in a way that will not dent your reputation.

Another great thing that I learnt from my family is self control. I remember a day my dad went with me to a funeral. After the funeral, the usual thing is to stay and eat, but immediately after the funeral my dad told me it was time to go and I followed him. On our way back we stopped at a sit out and he asked me to order any kind of food and drink that I wanted. I did as he instructed. After eating, he told me that anytime I am in a function I should always have self control. He did that because after the funeral we saw grown up people dragging food and funny enough the same thing still happens till now. That was a big lesson for me and this is one reason I always ensure I eat at home before going for any function.

Respect is another key thing that I learnt from my family. In my family, you dare not talk back at an elderly person or let it be heard that you insulted an elderly person. If my parents mistakenly heard such, then you would get it hot. All these have molded my lifestyle till today and I do not regret learning them.

Contentment, self control, and respect are really good and valuable lessons. Someone who has these three would would find it hard not to thrive and surpass life's difficulties.
These are greats lessons you've picked from your parents. Thanks for sharing😀
