What Are the Struggles and Joy That Come With the Year Ending?
As the year draws to a close, it always brings a strange mix of feelings. For some people, it’s excitement. For others, it’s pressure. And for many, it’s both at the same time. The end of the year has a way of making us reflect, question, celebrate, and sometimes worry all in one breath.
It’s like the whole year flashes before our eyes, reminding us of the things we did, the things we missed, and the things we still wish we had more time for.
Because the truth is, year-end isn’t just a date on the calendar it’s a mental and emotional checkpoint.
We see this in different ways:
Maybe you feel the pressure of unfinished goals, the ones you promised yourself back in January but somehow got lost along the way.
Maybe you feel a bit of fear or anxiety, wondering if you did enough, grew enough, or became the person you hoped to be.
Maybe you feel the weight of responsibilities, like school, work, family, or finances, especially as everyone starts asking, “So how was your year?”
But at the same time…
Maybe you feel grateful, realizing how much you survived, even the things you never thought you could handle.
Maybe you feel joy, remembering the small victories the friendships, the moments of laughter, the quiet progress no one else even knows about.
Maybe you feel hope, because even if this year was messy, the next one is another chance to try again.
The end of the year is a reminder that life is not perfect. We struggle, we learn, we grow. But it also reminds us that joy is always hidden somewhere in memories, in lessons, in the simple fact that we made it this far.
Now the real question becomes:
What does the end of the year bring for you?
Is it the struggle of trying to make sense of everything you’ve been through?
Is it the joy of knowing you’re not the same person you were in January?
Or is it the quiet mix of both the struggle that taught you, and the joy that carried you?
Everyone feels the year ending differently, but we all share one thing:
It’s a moment that forces us to pause, breathe, and look at how far we’ve come.
So here’s the challenge:
What are the struggles and joys you face when the year ends and what do they reveal about your journey so far?
