Happiness is something profoundly sought by many. The question then is; what exactly is this happiness? Also, does everyone deserve happiness?
Many spend their lives chasing happiness as if it's a destination on a map, on the contrary, happiness isn't a treasure sitting pretty and waiting to be discovered. If it was, the bravest of adventurers would probably keep all the happiness in the world to themselves.
Happiness isn't something we stumble upon but something we create within ourselves. A state built through mindset and action. This concept draws from the practice of mindfulness, gratitude and resilience amongst other things.
A person who lives with the knowledge that there are external conditions that may not always go their way but doesn't let these factors detect their inner peace is a person on the path of happiness. This is one reason why I greatly admire people who always seem in control of their emotions. Emphasis on seem because we're humans and things get to us even when we don't want them to. However, we can move from acting like these things do not bother us to actually agreeing that they are not worth our time and effort. This alone has saved many people from situations that otherwise would have turned out badly if they allowed their emotions to take precedence.
This reminds me of the time when a group of friends, acquaintances and myself came together to plan a meet and greet. The purpose behind this was just to get to know ourselves since we were all invested in the same niche. A voting poll was created and many people showed interest in the event but on said day, barely a handful of people were present. This didn't deter those who were present from having fun and actually getting to know each other. This way, we created our own happiness even when certain factors didn't fall in place.
We all have the power to respond to life in ways that bring us joy, despite the circumstances. It all balls down to our perspective; finding meaning in pain, savouring small pleasures and living in the moment.
A happy person is a grateful person.
Our habits also influence our happiness too. Through daily habits like kindness, reflection, acceptance and engagement in positive things that bring us joy, happiness can bloom. People who build happiness from within themselves often cultivate a mindset of abundance rather than scarcity. Instead of a relentless chase, happiness should be a practice. By celebrating small victories and 'ordinary' moments, we are cultivating happiness.
Personally, I believe happiness isn't simply one thing. It's a mosaic; part discovery, part creation. I read somewhere that rather than complain about the things we lack or the things beyond our control, we should cultivate an attitude of gratitude. Not just because abundance flourishes in a grateful heart but also because gratitude, contentment and happiness go hand in hand.

I agree with you when you say, our habits also influence our happiness, thank you for sharing.
It was a pleasure
When we cultivate an act of gratitude, it shifts our mentality from scarcity to abundance even when we have little but that we want to create our happiness, not based on what we don’t have presently but because we are grateful with the little things around us.
Happiness is indeed what everyone needs in order to feel complete and satisfied.
