Sometimes when you pray for speed, what God does is to help you reduce your distractions and teach you patience.
He helps you see what's slowing you down and what you need to remove.
Much like when the writer of Hebrews mentioned that we are in a race, he didn't ask us to pray for speed to win instead he said to shed off the weights and sin which easily gets to set us back and then drops the shocker, "run with patience".. patience? Not speed? For a faith race. Hmm.
Those distractions are not reallythe problems, the real issue is that they are getting you easily because of lack of patience and trust in a process bigger than you.
Speed is a factory setting based on the current phase you re in, life processes are not to be rushed. No matter how fast you run, you can't outrun your time. Your time is determined and the purpose for it has been ordained. But sadly, only few will use the time for the purpose. Most of us will spend it on weights and beseting circumstances.
Ever been challenged to a race? You want to prove your strength, you don't need whatever will slow you down, especially when you have people looking and cheering at you. You begin to shed of things, you hand your phone over to a friend, if your shoe will limit you, you put it off and throw it aside, some guys will even remove their suits and shirts, because they want to feel lighter and freer so they can easily navigate the wind as they run. All those weights will pack up wind and resist their movement, even though they meant well.
They are not good for your purpose.
Having begun the race, every other thing is a blur, your focus is on the finish line, you are on the move, no distraction
The prayer most times is not to get more speed, or more faith as it were but to see the things that are causing distractions and resistance to you, building unbelief in you and putting them aside for your speed and faith to find full expression as you look unto Jesus and you run the best lap your life was meant for, smooth to finish.
If you run with weights and distractions, you ll become tired easily, you ll break down and and even wear out faster, and by the time you realised it, you ve fainted.
It's easy to be distracted in these Z days, most people carry their distraction about, can't hold down a conversation without staring off, doom scrolling for hours, pursuing some dopamine refill and watching clout chaser do their thing for economic reasons while we are in a race. And you wonder why you re not spiritually growing, you think it's because you dont have time. You are busy yet 3 hours on different social media gets locked in daily and you are not even earning.
You have stopped being a racer on the field and you are now a product other people sell on the field when they say "I have 2 million viewers and 5 million followers", that's you somewhere there ready to binge, and hey, that's just one influencer, you are on many other influencers list. That's like some full time job, paying your attention at the expense of a feel good dopamine moment.
Wake up, stop being on the for sale tray for display.
Come back to the running tracks and start running your race. You don't need speed, you need patience, trusting and looking unto Jesus..the one who drew out the faith race map and ran it himself. Yeah that's my way of saying he authored it and finished it. I guess it makes sense to you. He is all you need to look unto, Look at how Jesus did it. Stay Focus on Jesus.
