This year, the first day was a closed conference day, and the second day was @ChainCulture, a collaboration event with the local blockchain community. Since the second day was open to the public, I was happy that my family could see the real Hive that I love so much.
Conference Day 1
The first day took place at REXKL, a renovated historical cinema in Kuala Lumpur’s old town. In addition to the event space, the venue had a bookstore packed with books from all genres, which I enjoyed browsing during breaks.
All the talks were great, but I was especially moved to see young ladies @ninaeatshere, whom I met at last year’s Hive Fest, and @macchiata, the founder of Hive Book Club, both giving presentations on stage.
I was smiling watching @techcoderx enthusiastically talk about the size of the program he’s been developing same as last year, and @sagarkothari88, a witness from India, happily presenting his dev environment. It’s wonderful that Hive has such geeky and passionate people!
During lunch, artworks submitted in advance were projected across three large walls, and I was delighted to spot mine.
After the talks, the space opened up to Chain Culture participants for a DJ performance, networking, and snacks. The powerful performance using both the walls and floor was absolutely impressive.
And, as always, the food was delicious ☺️ Hive Fest 👏
Conference Day 2
The second day was held at Glass House, a lush, plant-filled glass venue in the city center. I already shared part of this day, especially our excitements to the Pudgy Penguins in my previous post, “Combining Hive Fest and Family Trip.”
Many of the talks focused on finance and assets, and it was interesting to see how these topics are gaining attention in Malaysia and Southeast Asia. Outside the main hall, I visited the @thebeedevs workshop room. They showed that a small node can even run on a Raspberry Pi. It made me think it would be fun to turn @pupiko into a read-only, talkative node that summarizes the day’s Hive news!
I forgot my power bank at the hotel that day, and I’m grateful to @thebeedevs for kindly letting me charge my phone, and to @itsola, who represents BeeDevs in communication. It was lovely to meet Ola, who is a tech lady.
After the sessions, everyone gathered for a group photo. It warmed my heart to feel part of this global Hive/blockchain family.
The conference closed with beers being handed out, followed by a lively DJ play.
My daughter found a local designer’s keychain and I bought one for her with HBD. Maybe next year it would be nice I’ll set up a little booth myself!?
Delicious food and snacks were served again, and my absolute favorite was the Malaysian shaved ice: topped with coconut milk, sweet beans, cendol (those green rice-and-mung-flour noodles), and dark palm sugar syrup. It was so good that I will definitely recreate it at home.
Closing
The conference days were warm, inspiring, and full of flavor. I’m so glad I could share such moments with my family. I hope to see the Hive family again somewhere in the world next year!
今年は初日がクローズドのカンファレンスデーで、二日目は地元のブロックチェーンコミュニティとのコラボイベントのChain Cultureでした。二日目がオープンイベントだったので、家族に私が大好きなHiveのリアルを見てもらえたのがうれしかったです。
カンファレンスデー 1日目
初日はクアラルンプール旧市街にある歴史的な映画館をリノベーションした複合文化施設REXKLで行われました。イベントスペースに加えて、所狭しと様々なジャンルの本が並んだ書店も印象的で、ちょこちょこ見に行っていました。
どのトークもよかったのですが、去年Hive Festで知り合ってよくしてくれた @ninaeatshere とブッククラブのファウンダーの @macchiata、二人の若手の女性ユーザーがそれぞれ壇上でトークをしているのを見てなんとも感動しました。
あとは @techcoderx が今年も開発しているプログラムのサイズをうれしそうに話していたり、インドのウィットネスの @sagarkothari88 がうれしそうに開発環境を紹介していたり、こういうギークな人がいるところもいいよね！とも。
初日のランチタイムには、事前に募集されたアートワークが壁面3面に大きく投影されて、自分のを見つけてうれしかったです。子供のモンスターはサイズが間違っていたのか、出てこず。また次回ですね。
カンファレンスのトーク終了後は翌日のChain Cultureの参加者にもオープンになり、DJパフォーマンスとネットワーキング、軽食タイムに。会場の壁面と床を使った大音量のパフォーマンスは圧巻でした。
そうそう、毎年のことながらご飯もおいしかったですよ！
カンファレンスデー 2日目
2日目は会場をGlass Houseという市内中心部にあるガラス張りの植物もりもりなイベントスペースで行われました。2日目については、先日、一部「Combining Hive Fest and Family Trip / 家族旅行もかねたマレーシアでのHive Fest」というタイトルで投稿しました。
トークは資産まわりが多めで、マレーシア、東南アジアではこういうトピックが注目されているんだなと聞いていました。トーク以外では、@thebeedevs のワークショップルームを見学しました。小さなノードであればRaspberry Piの上でも動くよ！とのことで、@pupiko をリードオンリーの今日のHiveについてまとめてくれるおしゃべりノードにしたらおもしろいかも・・・なんて😁
この日、モバイルバッテリーをホテルに忘れてしまい、快く充電させてくれた @thebeedevs のみなさん、Bee Devsを代表してコミュニケーションをしている @itsola さんに感謝 🙏 技術系の女性のOlaさんと出会えたのがうれしかったです。
トークセッション終了後にはみんなで記念撮影をしました。世界中から集まったHiveファミリーの一員でいられるんだなと心温まる思いでした。
カンファレンスのしめはビールが配られて、DJプレイが始まってのパーティー！
子供が現地のデザイナーさんのキーホルダーを気に入って、HBDで購入しました。私も来年何かお店をやらせてもらおうかな？なんて😁
この日もおいしいご飯や軽食が提供され、私の一番のお気に入りはマレーシアかき氷でした。かき氷にココナッツミルク、甘く煮た豆、チェンドル（米粉と緑豆粉を使って作られた緑色のにょろにょろ）に黒糖シロップをかけたのがおいしいのなんの。これはもう絶対再現したいです。
おわりに
カンファレンスデーは温かく、刺激的で、そしておいしい時間でした。家族とそんな時間を共有できたのもよかったです。来年もまたどこかで、Hiveファミリーに再会できますように！
