It has been about one year and three months since I started my current part-time job.
I believe it’s quite a good workplace, and compared to other companies in the same industry, the hourly wage is relatively high. I have no complaints about the company. In the first few months, I was completely exhausted just trying to learn the job, but recently, I’ve gotten used to it and can approach work more comfortably. I also have no issues with workplace relationships. Since I can apply for open shifts through an app, I’ve been checking it frequently and gradually increasing my working hours.
However, I’ve recently come to realize that part-time work is ultimately a way of working that doesn’t benefit from compounding. It doesn’t provide any special skills, and it is essentially just trading time for money. That said, the advantage is that once I leave the workplace, I can completely forget about work, and the mental burden is quite low. I’m really bad at separating my personal and professional life—in my full-time employee days, I would constantly think about work, even after I got home or on my days off😅
I’m still unsure whether to continue this way of working (since automation may eventually eliminate the job itself), but it feels like a waste to spend all the money earned from labor that doesn’t benefit from compounding. At the very least, I should allocate a portion of it to investments… That’s what I thought while sipping a Hoegaarden Rosée after finishing my shift🍺

今のパートの仕事を始めて、1年と3ヶ月ほどが経ちました。
おそらくかなりホワイトな職場だと思いますし、同業他社と比べると時給も良いほうで、会社に不満はありません。最初の数ヶ月は右も左も分からずヘトヘトに疲れていましたが、最近ではだいぶ慣れたせいか気楽に臨めるようになってきました。人間関係の悩みもなし。空きシフトにはアプリから応募できるので、最近ではちょこちょこアプリをチェックして、働く時間を増やしています。
ただ、パートというのはやはり複利の効かない働き方だなー・・・と、最近実感しています。これといったスキルが増えるわけでもないし、基本的には時間の切り売りです。しかし、だからこそひとたび職場を出れば仕事のことは忘れてOKですし、精神的な負担はかなり少ないのは良いところです。私は公私の切り替えがものすごく下手な人間で、社員時代は帰ってからも休みの日でも、ずーーーっと仕事のことを考えてしまっていたので😅
今の働き方を続けるどうかは迷うところですが（いずれ自動化が進めば仕事自体なくなる気もしますが）、複利の効かない労働で得たお金を、消費に使ってしまうのは勿体ないので、せめてその一部だけでも投資に回さなければと。。パート終わりに買ったヒューガルデンのロゼを飲みながら思ったのでした🍺
