Today I went to the Kyoto Botanical Garden for the first time in a while. This is the second time since I moved into my current house. The route to the Botanical Garden has completely changed since I moved here. When I lived in my old house, it took me an hour to get there by bus and subway each way, but from my new house, it takes only 30 minutes by bus each way.
The main purpose of today's visit was to admire the flowers. The botanical garden was completely transformed into a spring-like appearance. Cherry blossoms, tulips, and other flowers were everywhere.
However, even though it was spring, it was quite cold in the morning with a little bit of rain and wind. It was a good decision to wear a cotton jacket.
We entered the botanical garden through the main gate. The first thing I noticed was the violas. There were violas of various colors and they were beautiful. The picture below is a viola.
And then, tulips. The tulip in the photo below is a garden variety called “Momotaro. I see that the color and shape of the flower is somewhat like a peach.
And cherry blossoms. There are many varieties of cherry blossoms in the botanical garden, and the best part is that you can enjoy them for a long time.
The picture below shows someiyoshino. It is the most popular variety in Japan.
And the cherry in the photo below is yamazakura. Someiyoshino cherry blossoms bloom before the leaves come out, but yamazakura cherry blossoms have a few reddish leaves that come out almost at the same time as the blossoms.
I have taken pictures of various other flowers, so I will post a few of them here.
First, the photo below is a narcissus. The flowers are a bit large, so they are probably a garden variety, but I could not find the name of the variety.
The photo below is a flower called koyasudan. It is also called Hong Kong dodan. As the name suggests, it originates from Hong Kong and is a flower of the azalea family.
And then there is one of my favorite flowers, the hitorishizuka. This delicate flower form is still a mystery of nature.
There are not many flowers in and around my house. I feel like I saw a lot of good things today, especially since there are not many wild flowers. There were many more places I wanted to see, but I was getting tired after walking so much, so I spent about two hours looking at and photographing the flowers, and then sat down on a bench on the large lawn in the center of the park to have lunch. I ate my lunch with caution, because if I was not careful, the dragonflies would take my lunch.
I exceeded 9,000 steps today! I almost reached 10,000 steps, but my legs are already shaking from walking so much, so that's enough for me. I am tired.

今日は久しぶりに京都府立植物園へ行きました。今の家に引っ越してからは２回目です。引っ越してから植物園へ行く道順がすっかり変わりました。前の家にいた時はバスと地下鉄を乗り継いで片道１時間かけて行っていましたが、今の家からはバス１本で片道30分くらいで行けます。
今日の主な目的はなんといってもお花の観賞です。植物園もすっかり春らしい姿になっていました。桜、チューリップなど、花がいっぱいでした。
ただ春と言っても、朝は雨がぱらついたり、風が吹いたりで、結構寒かったです。綿が入ったジャケットを着ていって正解でした。
植物園には正門から入りました。まず目についたのはビオラです。様々な色のビオラがあってきれいでした。下の写真はビオラです。
そしてチューリップ。下の写真のチューリップは「桃太郎」という園芸品種だそうです。なるほど花がなんとなく桃みたいな色と形をしています。
そして桜。植物園の桜は色々な品種があって、長く楽しめるのがいいところです。
下の写真はソメイヨシノ。日本ではもっともポピュラーな品種です。
そして下の写真の桜ははヤマザクラ。ソメイヨシノは葉が出るより先に花が咲きますが、ヤマザクラは花とほぼ同時に赤っぽい葉が少し出ます。
ほかにも色々な花を写真に撮ったので少し載せます。
まず、下の写真はスイセンです。少し花が大きめなことから園芸品種でしょうが、品種名はわかりませんでした。
下の写真はコヤスドウダンという花です。ホンコンドウダンともいいます。その名の通り原産地は香港で、ツツジの仲間の花です。
そして私の好きな花のひとつ、ヒトリシズカです。この繊細な花の造形はやはり自然の神秘を感じます。
私の家やその周囲にはあまり花がありません。特に野生の花が少ないので、今日は良いものをたくさん見たという気分です。まだまだ見たいところはいっぱいあったのですが、たくさん歩いてだんだん疲れたので、２時間ぐらい花を見て撮影して、園内中央にある大芝生のベンチに座って、昼食をとりました。油断をすると昼食をトンビに取られてしまうので、警戒しながら食べました。
今日は9000歩を超えました！もう少しで10000歩だったのですが、もう歩きすぎて足ががくがく震えているのでこれで十分です。疲れました。
