Now I try and experiment a lot in my painting. In my experience, when I do the same thing as others, I often do the same or worse than others at best.
I am no longer a young man, but I strongly felt that I would never again be misled by the opinions of others.
And he said, "Never stop writing, drawing, calculating, or making sketches on paper. The pencil is a special means of connecting the brain with the reality of ideas." He also said.
These days, many people probably sketch on tablets. But I am excited to draw on white paper. When I draw with a pencil on a blank sheet of paper, I am happy to see what has been buzzing around in my brain take shape. I continue to draw and draw, revising and expanding the idea. In this way, a shape is created. Paper and pencil are inexpensive, and I don't mind making mistakes along the way.
I studied design in college. Although I draw pictures now, I suddenly remembered the days when I was diligently completing assignments in college. At that time, computers were still available only at universities, and we were drawing with pencils on paper in lodgings and practice rooms. Remembering this now, I strongly felt that I would take the philosophy in this speech and continue to draw pictures.

まず彼はスピーチの中で「若者よ、決して人の意見に惑わされず、人と同じことをするな」とアジテートしたそうだ。自分の人生を振り返って、全くそう思う。私は社会人になろうとする時に親の意見に惑わされたばかりに、普通に企業に就職して痛い目にあった。
今は絵を描く中で、色々と試し、実験している。経験上、人と同じことをしたところで、せいぜい人と同じ出来か、人より劣ることが多いからだ。
私はもう若者ではないが、もう二度と人の意見に惑わされるまいと強く思った。
そして彼は「書くこと、描くこと、計算すること、紙にスケッチを描くことをやめてはいけない。鉛筆は、アイデアという脳と現実をつなぐ特別な手段だ。」とも言ったそうだ。
最近はタブレットでスケッチをする人も多いだろう。でも私は白い紙に描くのがわくわくする。なにもない真っ白な紙に鉛筆で描けば、脳内でうごめいていたものが形として現れ、嬉しくなる。それを修正しつつ描いて描いてどんどんアイデアを広げていく。こうして形が出来上がっていく。紙も鉛筆も安価だし、途中間違えても構わない。
私は大学の時デザインの勉強をした。今は絵を描いているけれども、ふと大学の時、熱心に課題をこなしていた頃を思い出したのだ。まだその頃はパソコンは大学にしかなく、私たちは下宿や実習室でとにかく紙に鉛筆で描いていた。今更ながらそんなことを思い出し、このスピーチにある哲学を頂いて絵を描き続けようと強く思ったのだ。
