Watching an anime series as it airs is exciting and at the same time a little frustrating. In March of this year, I shared my review of the first season of Kaiju No. 8 I expected this anime to be similar to Pacific Rim, but it was a surprise to me, because its protagonist, besides being an elderly man compared to his companions, who call him grandfather because he is older than them, showed how his desire to care for others earned him the respect and affection of his companions.
Now, in mid-July, the second season of this anime began airing. I took a while to watch it, thinking that this season would have the same number of episodes as the first, but this time there were only 11 episodes.
If we recall, the first season ended with the confrontation between Isao Shinomiya, General of the Defense Force and Kikoru's father, against Kafka, who gets out of control, as his Kaiju side dominates him and he almost kills the Director. Ultimately, this does not happen, but faced with his new reality, he is placed under a kind of house arrest and transferred to another division while it is determined whether he will be allowed to fight the Kaijus as part of the Defense Force or whether he will be killed and turned into a weapon.
It is precisely during this transition that the second season begins, with all the rookies from the third division being sent to other divisions. Something that characterizes this second season is the large number of battles we see on screen and the amount of information we learn about the past of other characters in the anime, which allows for character development. In addition, there is not as much humor as in the first season.
On the other hand, there are emotional moments in this second season, as well as the introduction of new characters such as the captain of the first division, Gen Nerumi, who becomes an important reference point for Kafka and Kikoru, as they are now both in his division.
One of the ideas that comes up most often this season is that each of Kafka's teammates wants to become stronger in order to support him because they realize that he tends to want to do everything alone. So we see the growth of Reno, Kikoru, and Iharu, among others, as well as how vice-captain Soshiro Hoshina decides to take risks and try new things, and also trains Kafka so that he can become stronger in combat.
As for the animation, in addition to an improvement compared to the first season, there is a lot of color and detail in some aspects, especially when we are watching battles. There is one in particular against Kaiju No. 9, who is very strong and gives us some ideas about what this character, who has so far turned out to be the strongest antagonist in the anime, might want.
As for the music, that is, the opening and closing themes, they reminded me of a famous character from various movies and cartoons, but I won't say his name to see if anyone recognizes him and mentions him in the comments. In addition, these themes manage to create the right atmosphere to enjoy each episode.
As usual, this anime ends with a battle in full swing, that is, an open ending. There are rumors that there will be no third season and that if there were, it would be the end of the anime, so if there is no third season, I will have to resort to the manga to find out for sure.
In conclusion, the second season of Kaiju No. 8 contains very good battles, the introduction of new characters that will be important for the development of others, emotional moments, good animation, and good musical themes. I give this season of the anime an 8/10.

Ver un anime en emisión es emocionante y al mismo tiempo un poco desesperante, en marzo de este año compartí mi review de la primera temporada de Kaiju Nº 8 de este anime esperaba algo similar a Titanes del Pacífico, pero fue una sorpresa para mí, pues su protagonista además de ser un hombre de edad avanzada a la de sus compañeros los cuales le llaman abuelo por mayor que ellos, mostró como sus ganas de cuidar a otros le hizo ganar el respeto y cariño de sus compañeros.
Ahora bien, a mediados de julio comenzó la emisión de la segunda temporada de este anime. Yo me tardé en verla creyendo que esta temporada contaría con la misma cantidad de capítulos que la primera , pero en esta ocasión solo nos dejó 11 capítulos.
Si recordamos un poco la primera temporada termino con el enfrentamiento entre Isao Shinomiya, General de la Fuerza de Defensa y padre de Kikoru, contra Kafka, quien se sale de control, pues su parte de Kaiju lo domina y casi mata al Director, pero finalmente esto no ocurre, pero ante su nueva realidad es puesto bajo una especie de arresto domiciliario y trasladado a otra división mientras se determina si se le permitirá combatir a los kiajus como parte de la Fuerza de Defensa o si se le asesina y se le trasforma en un arma.
Justamente en esta transición es que comienza la segunda temporada, donde todos los novatos de la tercera división han sido enviados a otras divisiones. Algo que caracteriza a esta segunda temporada es la gran cantidad de batallas que vemos en pantalla y la cantidad de información del pasado que vemos de otros personajes del anime, lo que permite un desarrollo de los personajes. Además, no hay tanto humor como en la primera temporada.
Por otra parte, hay momentos emotivos en esta segunda temporada, además de que introducen nuevos personajes como por ejemplo el capitán de la primera división, Gen Nerumi quien se convierte en un referente importante para Kafka y Kikoru, ya que ambos ahora están en su división.
Una de las ideas que más se nos presenta en esta temporada es la que cada uno de los compañeros de Kafka desean hacerse más fuertes con la intensión de apoyarlo porque se dan cuenta de que él suele querer hacer todo solo, por lo que vemos el crecimiento de Reno, Kikoru y Iharu, entre otros y también como el vicecapitán Soshiro Hoshina decide arriesgarse a hacer cosas nuevas y además entrena a Kafka para para que pueda hacerse más fuerte en combate.
En cuanto a la animación además de una mejora en comparación con su primera temporada, hay mucho colorido y detalles en algunos aspectos sobre todo cuando estamos ante batallas, hay una en especial contra el Kaiju Nº 9 que es muy fuerte y nos da algunas ideas de lo que podría desear este personaje que hasta ahora ha resultado ser el antagonista más fuerte del anime.
En cuanto la música, es decir los temas de apertura y cierre, me hicieron recordar a un personaje famoso del cual existe diferentes películas y animados, pero no dira su nombre a ver si alguien se identifica y lo menciona en los cometarios, además dichos temas logran crear un ambiente adecuado para disfrutar cada capítulo.
Como es costumbre, este anime cierra dejándonos una batalla en plena acción, es decir, su final abierto. Hay rumores de que no habrá tercera temporada y que de haberla sería el cierre del anime, así que no haber una tercera temporada deberé que recurrir al manga para salir de dudas.
Terminando, la segunda temporada de Kaiju Nº 8, contiene batallas muy buenas, la introducción de nuevos personajes que serán importantes para el desarrollo de otros, momentos emotivos, buena animación y buenos temas musicales. Yo le doy a esta temporada del anime un 8/10.

De lo más fuerte y más entretenido que se ha emitido en esta última temporada. Fue una temporada bastante impresionante con los regresos de gigantes como Kaiju Nro 8, Sakamoto Days y Dandadan. También hubo uno que otro estreno que llamó muchísimo la atención y se ve que promete mucho como lo es Gachiakuta.
Esperemos que pronto digan alguna novedad doble la tercera temporada de Kaiju Nro 8.
