Donghua Might Just Be The Next Big Thing

The last 6 years has made me appreciate how wonderful it is to be alive as an anime lover. Anime and manga are now a global sensation dissecting even into the furthest reaches of the art even going as far as becoming a tool to measure. Whole these two have completely won our hearts for so long, there is a whole new element rearing it's head from the MIDDLE KINGDOM going by the name of *Donghua.
I am not going to lie my first perception of the Chinese animated series was overshadowed with mixed feelings because I did not enjoy the language as much as I did it's counterpart from Japan. It felt completely off and so I found it very difficult to invest in any character and thus my entire interest relied heavily on the fighting scenes. But as I continued to explore further into unknown territory, I realized I may have been too quick to judge and sentimentality was thwarting my sight.

After years of ignoring Donghua I decided to give it a try one more time and my first pick was The King's Avatar.
The plot of this series was about a guy who was forced to retire from professional gaming by his teammates and so he ventures into independent gaming, takes a night shift job at a cafe which he uses to workim his way up the ranks of the game proving that he still got what it takes to be the top dogs in the gaming world. In my opinion it was pretty good as it did possess some unique elements that were lacking even in top contending isekai games anime however I never got past the second season because of personal reasons. But as I continued down the donghua path and knowing what I know now I just have to admit it - THE ANIME FRANCHISE IS IN SERIOUS TROUBLE.

China is not playing around anymore, their plan is to own monopoly over the entertainment market and they might just succeed with the type of content they release these days. While Japanese animation like TBATE are still struggling with good visuals and generic storylines, Donghua is slowly displaying it's superiority peak animation quality using high groundbreaking technology incorporated with compelling stories. Works like Scissors Seven, Fog Hill of Five Elements etc that possess unrivaled visuals, thrilling fight scenes and a unique animation style different from what we know. I am just 4 episodes in to a new series by the name of Supercube ( highly recommended) and the experience so far is just breathtaking, I repeat anime is in deep trouble.

Chinese studios are even taking it a step further with their marketing strategies as their works are literally shoved into our faces. I once saw a donghua that was released simultaneously with three translations: Chinese, Japanese and an English dub- these guys are not playing around. And what does Japan do in return, completely shut off streaming sites that was actually helping the anime verse grow ignoring the fact that not everybody has access to Crunchyroll and the rest.
Now I am not saying that anime or manga will completely fade away with time but highlighting the massive competition that will overshadow them if they don't up their game if Donghua can make a huge fan outta someone like me who literally can't stand how the characters sound, I bet it won't take long to experience another shift between both worlds.
