Hello to all anime fans, I hope you are super well this time, I want to talk to you a little about an interesting anime, today I will give you my opinions of: SHOSHIMIN: How to Become Ordinary ".. it surprised me and that I thought not to see it, it did not disappoint at all in that wave of being strange-but-fascinating.. let's see, imagine the scene: they start high school, clean slate, new airs.. what is their big goal? To be... like that, completely and absolutely ordinary.. that is what the whole wave is about with our two protagonists, Kobato Jogoro and Osanai Yuki.. I mean, they made like a pact, a sacred oath to simply camouflage themselves among people, not to attract attention at all, and to live the life of the most X, most meh students that you can imagine, Kobato and Osanai, how am I going to tell you, just want to be one more of the bunch.
When I heard this for the first time, it kind of got me curious, right? I mean, why Someone, let alone teenagers who usually want to stand out in some way, would go to such lengths to be invisible? That question alone was enough to make me play the first episode of a... honestly, the promotional videos looked gorgeous, as if "beautiful cinema of everyday life" were really the best way to describe it. I was expecting an incredible-looking mystery series, especially since it's written by the same person who made "Hyouka" so, what do you think happens when two people desperate to be normal keep stumbling upon... mysteries!? Exactly, you guessed it!
Despite the fact that they're trying their hardest to be average, they end up wrapped up in solving these little enigmas that pop up along the way... and when I say "little", I mean really little! We're not talking about super complicated murder plots or giant conspiracies, at least not at first, we're talking about, I don't know, finding a lost wallet... and this one really cracked me up, an ENTIRE episode dedicated to figuring out how another character figured out how to make hot chocolate out of, like, three things they had on hand—yes, you heard right. An entire episode about the logistics of making hot chocolate! There's another one where they're trying to figure out who the brave person was who ate a mustard-filled cream bun out of a stack of regular buns. Sounds totally ridiculous, right? And honestly, part of me was like, "Where did I get here?"
Hola a todos fanáticos del anime, espero que estén super bien en esta ocasión, les quiero hablar un poco de un anime interesante, hoy les daré mis opiniones de: SHOSHIMIN: How to Become Ordinary".. me sorprendió y eso que pensaba no verlo, no decepcionó para nada en esa onda de ser raro-pero-fascinante.. a ver, imagínense la escena: empiezan la prepa, borrón y cuenta nueva, nuevos aires.. cuál es su gran meta? Ser... así, completa y absolutamente ordinarios.. de eso va toda la onda con nuestros dos protas, Kobato Jogoro y Osanai Yuki.. o sea, hicieron como un pacto, un juramento sagrado de simplemente camuflarse entre la gente, no llamar la atención para nada, y vivir la vida de estudiantes más X, más meh, que se puedan imaginar, Kobato y Osanai, como les voy a decir, solo quieren ser uno más del montón.
Cuando escuché esto por primera vez, como que me dió curiosidad, ¿no? o sea, ¿por qué alguien, y más unos adolescentes que usualmente quieren destacar de alguna forma, se esforzaría tanto por ser invisible? Esa pregunta solita bastó para que le diera play al primer episodio de una.. la verdad, los videos promocionales se veían hermosísimos, como si eso de "cine hermoso de la vida cotidiana" fuera de verdad la mejor forma de describirlo. Yo me esperaba una serie de misterio con una pinta increíble, sobre todo porque la escribe la misma persona que hizo "Hyouka" entonces, ¿qué creen que pasa cuando dos personas desesperadas por ser normales se topan a cada rato con... ¡misterios!? ¡Exacto, adivinaron!
A pesar de que le echan todas las ganas del mundo para ser del montón, terminan envueltos resolviendo estos pequeños enigmas que les van saliendo al paso.. y cuando digo "pequeños", es en serio, ¡bien pequeños! No estamos hablando de tramas súper complicadas de asesinatos o conspiraciones gigantes, al menos no al principio, estamos hablando de, no sé, encontrar una cartera perdida.. y este de verdad que me mató de risa, un episodio COMPLETO dedicado a descubrir cómo otro personaje se las ingenió para hacer chocolate caliente con, tipo, tres cositas que tenía a la mano, sí, escucharon bien.. un episodio entero sobre la logística para preparar un chocolatito! ¡Hay otro donde están tratando de averiguar quién fue el valiente que se comió un panecito de crema relleno de mostaza de entre un montón de panecitos normales, suena totalmente ridículo, ¿verdad? Y, sinceramente, una parte de mí estaba como: ¿En qué momento llegué aquí?".
But here comes the good part, the way it's presented is... beautiful, look, the visual style of this series is, truly... a gem! They call it "cinema of everyday life," and it suits it perfectly... everything is filmed in that 2.35 widescreen format, you know, with the black bars at the top and bottom, which gives it a super cinematic touch... I mean, for a series that deals with such small things, it's a strange decision, I honestly applaud it... even the ending is great; they use real shots, I think of Tokyo, with the anime characters drawn on top of photos that are, wow, gorgeous. It's a super original detail that draws your attention, especially because the use of real footage isn't something you see that often in anime, and although sometimes the pace is a bit slow, and watch out!, it's loaded with dialogue - I mean, these characters talk a lot - there's always a kind of intrigue underneath, you're always asking yourself: "What's the point with this series? What are these two really up to?"
Because, come on, let's be honest, nobody puts that much effort into being "normal" unless they're escaping from something, and that's where things get good, really. Why do Kobato and Osanai want to be so X, so average? The series drops clues little by little... with Kobato, it seems that before he was a bit of a know-it-all, one of those who can't help but solve everything, stick his nose in where it doesn't belong, and of course, that got him into trouble. And it seems like people kind of got the idea from that... so for him, being "ordinary" means stop solving mysteries, stop being the smart guy who always knows everything. Then we have Osanai... with her, at first, you don't really know what's going on, she also wants to be normal, just another girl... but suddenly, things start happening to her – her bike gets stolen, she's accused of something she didn't do – and her plan for an "ordinary life" kind of starts falling apart... it's like around the end of the third episode or so that you start to get that little thing... what if Osanai is trying to keep something else... weird to herself? That's when the series throws these curve balls at you that make you doubt if things are suddenly going to get really dark.
Pero aquí viene lo bueno, la forma en que está presentado es.. una belleza, miren, el estilo visual de esta serie es, de verdad... ¡una joyita! Le dicen "cine de la vida cotidiana", y le queda perfecto.. todo está filmado en ese formato panorámico de 2.35, ¿saben?, con las barritas negras arriba y abajo, que le da un toque súper de cine.. o sea, para una serie que va de cosas tan chiquitas, es una decisión rara, yo la verdad, se lo aplaudo.. hasta el ending está genial; usan tomas reales, creo que de Tokio, con los personajes de anime dibujados encima de fotos que están ¡uff!, hermosísimas. Es un detalle súper original y que llama la atención, más que nada porque eso de usar filmaciones reales como que no se ve tanto en el anime, y aunque a veces el ritmo es medio lento, y ¡ojo!, está cargadísima de diálogos –o sea, estos personajes hablan hasta por los codos–, siempre hay como una intriga ahí por debajo, todo el tiempo te estás preguntando: "¿Cuál es la onda con esta serie? ¿Qué se traen estos dos entre manos, en serio?".
Porque, vamos, seamos honestos, nadie le echa tantas ganas a ser "normalito" si no es porque está escapando de algo, y ahí es donde la cosa se pone buena, de verdad. ¿Por qué Kobato y Osanai quieren ser tan X, tan del montón? La serie te va soltando pistas de a poquito.. con Kobato, parece que antes era medio sabelotodo, de esos que no pueden evitar resolver todo, meter su cuchara donde no lo llaman, y claro, eso le traía problemas. Y parece que la gente como que le agarró idea por eso.. así que para él, ser "ordinario" es dejar de resolver misterios, dejar de ser el listo que siempre se las sabe todas. Después tenemos a Osanai.. con ella, al principio, como que no sabes bien qué onda, ella también quiere ser normalita, una chica más del montón.. pero de repente, le empiezan a pasar cosas –le roban la bici, la acusan de algo que no hizo– y su plan de "vida ordinaria" como que se le empieza a caer a pedazos.. es como por el final del tercer episodio, más o menos, que te empieza a dar esa cosita... ¿y si Osanai está tratando de guardarse algo más... raro? ahí es cuando la serie te tira esas bolas curvas que te hacen dudar si la cosa se va a poner bien oscura de repente.
Now, the chemistry between Kobato and Osanai, that’s the key to everything, people… just on the surface, they might seem super flat, almost sparkless, which, if you think about it, fits perfectly with their goal of being invisible! I mean, they’re trying really hard not to be expressive… but the series is really lively, because suddenly you see like a few moments where they almost get out of character, and boom!, that’s when you realize more things… even though they speak so measuredly, the characters are super well done, and the chemistry between them!, you can’t deny it… it’s not your typical dramatic school anime romance; yes, there is a kind of romantic vibe, but it’s much calmer, more mature, you know? They're constantly holding each other back, reminding each other to "take it down a notch" or offering excuses if one of them screws up... it's like this super solid, quiet agreement they have between them... even though these mysteries seem silly, the way they solve them really hooks you, seriously! They're detailed, full of dialogue, like I was saying... you're basically listening to them jump to conclusions step by step.
But then, WHAM! The author throws in some twists that really surprise you and leave you like, "Wow, that's great!" Just when you think you've got the hang of it, bang! The revelation leaves you speechless. Often the answer was right there in your face, but the joke is how they come about... this brings me back to the overall vibe of the show. It's a strange mix. There are times, I'm not going to lie, when I did think to myself, "Okay, okay? This is dragging on. Is something serious going to happen or what?"... sometimes it can feel really slow, boring... but just when you're about to say "that's it," boom! They throw something at you—a little phrase, a sudden change of focus, a hint that there's something shadier going on—and it pulls you in again, leaves you thinking about everything again. "Is this really going to get dark?" I kept asking myself.
Ahora, la química entre Kobato y Osanai, esa es la clave de todo, gente.. así por encimita, podrían parecer súper planos, casi sin chispa, lo cual, si te pones a pensar, ¡encaja perfecto con su meta de ser invisibles! O sea, se están esforzando un montón para no ser expresivos.. pero la serie es bien viva, porque de repente ves como unos momentitos donde casi se les sale el personaje, y ¡pum!, ahí te das cuenta de más cosas.. aunque hablen así como muy medidos, están súper bien hechos los personajes, y la química entre ellos, ¡uff!, no se puede negar.. no es el típico romance de anime de escuela dramático; sí hay como que una ondita romántica, pero es mucho más tranqui, más madura, ¿saben? Todo el tiempo se están como frenando el uno al otro, recordándose que "bájale dos rayitas", o se ofrecen de excusa si alguno mete la pata.. es como un acuerdo súper sólido y calladito que tienen entre ellos.. aunque esos misterios parezcan una bobada, la forma en que los resuelven, ¡te engancha un montón, en serio! Son detallados, full diálogo, como les decía.. básicamente los estás escuchando sacar conclusiones pasito a pasito.
Pero de repente, ¡ZAS! El autor te mete unos giros que de verdad te sorprenden y te dejan como "¡Wow, qué bueno!". Cuando crees que ya le agarraste la onda, ¡paf!, la revelación te deja con la boca abierta, muchas veces la respuesta estaba ahí, en tu cara, pero el chiste es cómo llegan.. esto me lleva a la vibra general de la serie. Es una mezcla rara, hay ratos, no les voy a mentir, que sí me puse a pensar: "Bueno, ya, ¿no? Esto se está estirando. ¿Va a pasar algo en serio o qué onda?".. a veces se puede sentir lentísima, aburrida.. pero justo cuando ya estás a punto de decir "ya fue", ¡boom!, te tiran algo –una frasecita, un cambio de enfoque de repente, una pista de que hay algo más turbio por ahí– y te vuelve a jalar, te deja pensando de nuevo en todo. "¿Será que ahora sí se pone oscura la cosa?", me preguntaba a cada rato.
Well, the world itself feels a little... weird... strange, I would even say... maybe it's because of these strict rules that Kobato and Osanai set for themselves to "be ordinary" .. I mean, these rules are so specific –nothing to stand out, avoid anything that breaks with normality– that it almost makes the society around them seem kind of distorted, or at least, the way they see it feels that way, you kind of wonder, is this how society sees normal, or is it just their version of it, super focused, almost paranoid? Well, now, let's talk about the end of the series... without giving away too many spoilers, I can tell you that things do get more intense. There's a kidnapping thing that, at first, felt kind of... meh, like the writer needed to force in the drama, but then the story kind of cleverly twists that incident in the last two episodes, and that kind of saved it for me. And the final episode? Oh. My. God! They throw in a twist that no one saw coming, and boom! It gives a whole new meaning to a bunch of stuff you've already seen... it completely changed the tone, and I'm still wondering if it was a silly little thing pulled out of thin air or a stroke of genius... because it went against everything I thought the show was building up to... so, here are my conclusions, people. "SHOSHIMIN: How to Become Ordinary" is a really fascinating journey, although with its ups and downs, it's not perfect by any means.
As I said, some parts of the script, especially how they resolve some plots, feel a bit convoluted, or as if they've taken the easy way out... and yes, you have to put a lot of thought into following some of the deductions, that's real! But despite those little details, it always had me hooked. It's a series that feels more mature than many typical light novel adaptations... it doesn't give you everything pre-cooked or need fan service to keep you watching. The music in general is good, although there is a little song that sounds like medieval music that didn't quite fit, it seemed more like something you would hear in "Frieren" I went in with curiosity, calmly, and I came out truly impressed by how ambitious it is and that unique touch it has, it's one of those series that stays with you, for how it shows you the everyday in such a beautiful way, for its "little" mysteries that really grab you, for the calm depth of its characters and that daring ending, I give "SHOSHIMIN: How to Become Ordinary" a solid 8.5/10 .. if you want to see something different, I recommend you take a look at it .. and well, that's it for today's review, I hope you liked it, take care! A ver, el mundo en sí como que se siente un poquito... raro.. extraño, hasta les diría.. tal vez es por estas reglas tan estrictas que Kobato y Osanai se pusieron para "ser ordinarios".. o sea, estas reglas son tan específicas –nada de destacar, evitar cualquier cosa que rompa con la normalidad– que casi hace que la sociedad a su alrededor se vea medio distorsionada, o al menos, la forma en que ellos la ven se siente así, como que te preguntas, ¿así es como la sociedad ve lo normal, o es solo la versión de ellos, súper enfocada, casi paranoica? bueno, ahora, hablemos del final de la serie.. sin soltarles spoilers muy grandes, les digo que la cosa sí se pone más intensa. Hay un rollo de un secuestro que, al principio, como que lo sentí medio... meh, como si el guionista hubiera necesitado meterle drama a la fuerza, pero después, la historia como que le da la vuelta bien inteligentemente a ese incidente en los últimos dos capítulos, y eso como que lo salvó para mí. ¿Y el capítulo final? ¡Ay. Dios. Mío!
Te tiran un giro que nadie se esperaba y que, ¡pum!, le da un significado totalmente nuevo a un montón de cosas que ya viste.. cambió el tono por completo, y todavía estoy aquí pensando si fue una tontería sacada de la manga o una genialidad.. porque iba en contra de todo lo que yo creía que la serie estaba armando.. así que, mis conclusiones, mi gente. "SHOSHIMIN: How to Become Ordinary" es un viaje bien fascinante, aunque con sus altibajos, no es perfecta, para nada. Como les dije, algunas partes del guion, sobre todo cómo resuelven algunas tramas, se sienten medio enredadas, o como si se hubieran ido por la fácil.. y sí, hay que echarle coco para seguir algunas de las deducciones, ¡eso es real! Pero a pesar de esos detallitos, siempre me tuvo enganchado, es una serie que se siente más madura que muchas adaptaciones típicas de novelas ligeras.. no te da todo masticadito ni necesita del fanservice para que sigas viéndola.
La música en general está bien, aunque hay una rolita que suena como a música medieval que como que no cuadraba mucho, más bien parecía algo que escucharías en "Frieren" yo le entré con curiosidad, tranqui, y salí de verdad impresionado por lo ambiciosa que es y ese toque tan único que tiene, es de esas series que se te quedan ahí, por cómo te muestra lo cotidiano de una forma tan bonita, por sus misterios "chiquitos" que te atrapan un montón, por la profundidad tranqui de sus personajes y ese final tan atrevido, yo le doy a "SHOSHIMIN: How to Become Ordinary" un sólido 8.5/10.. si quieren ver algo diferente, les recomiendo que le den un vistazo.. y bueno, hasta aquí la reseña de hoy, espero que les haya gustado, cuidense mucho!
