Hello to all my Otaku friends, I hope you are doing great! Today I want to talk to you about a southern anime that you probably don't know about, it's a series that can convey a lot of things, I'll talk to you about: "The Day I Became a God" I have so much to tell you, haha, imagine the premise: a normal boy, like anyone else, named Yota, suddenly has his life turned upside down when he meets Hina, a super mysterious girl who claims she is a goddess and that the world is going to go to hell in 30 days... at first, I was like: "Let's see, do I prepare for one of those existential dramas or do I relax and enjoy a comedy to laugh for a while?".
And somehow, the anime uses the genius of mixing the two, creating a unique story that makes you feel comfortable but at the same time like with a weird tingle... now, talking a little more about the central premise... everything starts in a really normal environment, like any other day in the life of a student, until boom! Hina appears and drops the bombshell that she is a goddess with a prediction that leaves you frozen, it may sound crazy, but the way they handle it is a little gem. Instead of throwing you into a tragic and apocalyptic story, the series lets you enjoy the little moments of everyday life: from Yota's "I don't believe a word" face at the things Hina says, to the subtle touches of humor in each conversation... that balance is something that blew my mind; It's like the end of the world is just another ingredient in a recipe for totally unexpected situations, and believe me, that feeling of not knowing what's going to happen is what keeps you glued to the screen.
I'll be honest, at first the pace of the series left me kind of confused, it takes its time for the main plot to really get going, there are moments when you get so into Yota's normal life that you almost forget there's a clock ticking. For some, this might be a turnoff, especially if they were expecting full-on action or drama from the first minute, but for me, it was a plus. It allowed me to connect more with the characters and enjoy how the tension builds little by little, when the series finally picks up pace, each moment, no matter how small, becomes stronger because they gave you time to understand it.

En el día de hoy les quiero hablar de un anime sur seguramente no conocen, es una serie que puede transmitir michas cosas, les hablaré de: "The Day I Became a God" tengo tanto que decirles, jaja, imagínense la premisa: un chico normal, como cualquiera, llamado Yota, de repente se le da vuelta la vida cuando conoce a Hina, una chica súper misteriosa que afirma que es una diosa y que el mundo se va a ir al carajo en 30 días.. al principio, yo estaba como: "A ver, ¿me preparo para un drama existencial de aquellos o me relajo y disfruto una comedia para reír un rato?".
Y de alguna forma, el anime usa la genialidad de mezclar las dos, creando una historia única que te hace sentir cómodo pero a la vez como con un cosquilleo raro.. ahora, hablando un poco más de la premisa central.. todo arranca en un ambiente re normal, como un día cualquiera en la vida de un estudiante, hasta que ¡pum! aparece Hina y suelta la bomba de que es una diosa con una predicción que te deja helado, puede sonar como una locura, pero la forma en que lo manejan es una joyita. En vez de tirarte de una a una historia trágica y apocalíptica, la serie te deja disfrutar los momentos chiquitos del día a día: desde la cara de "no te creo nada" de Yota con las cosas que dice Hina, hasta los toques de humor sutil en cada conversación.. ese equilibrio es algo que me voló la cabeza; es como si el fin del mundo fuera un ingrediente más en una receta de situaciones totalmente inesperadas, y créanme, ese sentimiento de no saber qué va a pasar es lo que te tiene pegado a la pantalla..
Les voy a ser sincero, al principio el ritmo de la serie me dejó medio confundido, se toma su tiempo para que la trama principal arranque de verdad, hay momentos en los que te metes tanto en la vida normal de Yota que casi te olvidas de que hay un reloj que está corriendo.. Para algunos, esto puede ser un bajón, especialmente si esperaban acción a full o drama desde el minuto uno, pero para mí, fue un puntazo a favor.. me dejó conectar más con los personajes y disfrutar cómo la tensión va subiendo de a poquito, cuando la serie por fin agarra ritmo, cada momento, por más pequeño que sea, toma más fuerza porque te dieron tiempo para entenderlo.
Now, let's talk about the characters, and especially about Hina! This girl is a total charmer, maybe her story goes a little fast, it seems like it needed a little more development, but her charisma captivates you in a great way... with all the weird faces and the things she comes up with, she steals the show every time she appears on screen... I went from dying of laughter with her more local dialogues, to getting a lump in my throat without expecting it... there is something between sweet and bitter in her that reminded me a lot of other series, like "Angel Beats" and "Charlotte". If you have already seen them, you know that these types of series have the habit of hitting you right in the heart when you least expect it... although "The Day I Became a God" does not always reach those levels of emotion, it does know how to touch your sensitive fiber.
And speaking of emotions, this series isn't afraid to mix laughter with moments that touch your soul. I remember a particular scene where Yota and Hina were having a quiet, normal time, which later felt like the calm before the hurricane. It's those little bits of life, so real and natural, that make this anime feel like a relaxed chat with a lifelong friend. Yes, there are parts where the plot kind of gets stuck while building the main mystery, but that same rhythm gives you the opportunity to enjoy the humor and understand those hidden clues that something bigger, and perhaps painful, is about to come. And that's what makes a story stay with you in the end. It's not just the explosive moments, but also those little moments that stay in your head. To close with this point, the animation, visually, is quite well done. I liked how they animated the backgrounds and the movement of the characters. It's a polished and pleasant animation.
Ahora, hablemos de los personajes, ¡y sobre todo de Hina! esta chica un encanto total, puede que su historia vaya un poco rápido, como que le faltó un poquito más de desarrollo, pero su carisma, te cautiva de gran manera.. con todas las caras raras y las cosas que se le ocurren, se roba el show cada vez que aparece en pantalla.. yo pasaba de estar muerto de risa con sus diálogos más localos, a que se me haga un nudo en la garganta sin esperarlo.. hay algo entre dulce y amargo en ella que me hizo acordar un montón a otras series, tipo "Angel Beats" y "Charlotte". Si ya las vieron, saben que este tipo de series tienen la costumbre de pegarte justo en el corazón cuando menos te lo esperas.. aunque "The Day I Became a God" no siempre llega a esos niveles de emoción a tope, sí que sabe cómo tocarte la fibra sensible.
Y hablando de emociones, esta serie no le tiene miedo a mezclar la risa con momentos que te llegan al alma, me acuerdo de una escena en particular donde Yota y Hina estaban pasando un rato tranqui, normal, que después se sintió como la calma antes del huracán, son esos pedacitos de la vida, tan reales y naturales, los que hacen que este anime se sienta como una charla relajada con un amigo de toda la vida.. sí hay partes donde la trama como que se queda medio pegada mientras arma el misterio principal, pero ese mismo ritmo te da la oportunidad de disfrutar el humor y entender esas pistas escondidas de que algo más grande, y quizás doloroso, está por venir. Y es eso al final lo que hace que una historia se te quede grabads, no son solo los momentos explosivos, sino también esos pequeños instantes que se te quedan dando vueltas en la cabeza. ya para cerrar con este punto, la animación, en lo visual, está bastante bien hecha, me gustó como animaron los fondos, y el movimiento de los personajes, es una animación pulida y agradable.
And the character design, wow!, beautiful, full of life, it's a pleasure to see them, as I was saying, the settings, super well done to show you both the normal day to day things as well as that strange, otherworldly feeling that something big is going to happen... the opening is nice, it puts you in the mood and is relaxed, almost playful, while the ending, watch out for the ending!, has a pop rhythm that sticks to you like gum in your hair, although it may not be the most memorable in the world, I loved how the visuals go hand in hand with the story, reinforcing that strange energy between comedy and tragedy that is coming. You can tell that they put love and effort into every scene, and that speaks very well of the team that made this anime. It may be a challenge at times and some characters may not get as much development as one would like, but there is something super real in the way they present everything. I ended up loving Yota and Hina, I laughed with them, and I even shed a tear when the series got really sentimental.
It's not the typical anime where you know the ending from the beginning, and that's what makes it great: it's a mix of laughter, drama, and a touch of existential philosophy that has you there, glued to the screen... and let's be honest, who doesn't like a story that dares to be funny and deep at the same time? For those who are fans of this type of stories, they might really like this anime, although it has its quirks... everyone will experience it in their own way, especially if they connect with the themes that touch the heart, some might think that it goes too slow or that the story lacks punch, but others (like me) are going to appreciate that they give you a chance to connect with the characters and let the story move forward calmly... it's an anime that makes you think about life, about those moments of joy and sadness, and how everything flies by.
Y el diseño de los personajes, ¡uff!, una belleza, llenos de vida, que da gusto verlos, como les decía, los escenarios, súper bien hechos para mostrarte tanto lo normal del día a día como esa sensación rara, como de otro mundo, de que algo grande va a pasar.. el opening está lindo, te pone en onda así como relajada, casi juguetona, mientras que el ending, ¡ojo con el ending!, tiene un ritmo pop que se te pega como chicle en el pelo, aunque capaz no sea el más memorable del mundo, a mí me encantó cómo los visuales van de la mano con la historia, reforzando esa energía media rara entre comedia y tragedia que se viene. Se nota que le metieron cariño y esfuerzo a cada escena, y eso habla muy bien del equipo que hizo este anime, puede que a veces sea un desafío y que algunos personajes no se desarrollen tanto como uno quisiera, pero hay algo súper real en cómo lo plantean todo, terminé agarrándole cariño a Yota y Hina, me reí con ellos, y hasta se me escapó una lagrimita cuando la serie se puso sentimental de verdad.
No es el típico anime que te sabes el final desde el principio, y eso es lo que lo hace genial: es una mezcla de risa, drama y un toque de filosofía existencial que te tiene ahí, pegado a la pantalla.. y seamos sinceros, ¿a quién no le gusta una historia que se anima a ser divertida y profunda al mismo tiempo? Para los que son fanático de este tipo de historis, este anime les puede gustar mucho, aunque tiene sus cositas.. cada uno lo va a vivir a su manera, sobre todo si conecta con los temas que tocan el corazón, algunos quizás piensen que va muy lento o que le falta punch en la historia, pero otros (como yo) vamos a valorar que te den chance de conectar con los personajes y dejar que la historia avance tranqui.. es un anime que te hace pensar en la vida, en esos momentos de alegría y tristeza, y en cómo todo pasa volando.
I give "The Day I Became a God" an 8/10, easy! It is a series that dares to mix everything and surprise you when you least expect it... it may not develop all the ideas thoroughly, and some secondary stories may fall a bit short, but the important thing, what touches your heart - the vibe between Yota and Hina, that great mix of laughter and drama, and the well-made world where everything happens - that covers up any mistakes it may have... so, if the humor catches your attention, that touch of soft existential angst or simply the charisma of the characters, this anime has something special that is worth living... Yo le doy a "The Day I Became a God" un 8/10, ¡fácil! Es una serie que se anima a mezclar de todo y a sorprenderte cuando menos te lo esperas.. puede que no desarrolle todas las ideas a fondo, y que algunas historias secundarias queden medio cortas, pero lo importante, lo que te llega al corazón —la onda entre Yota y Hina, esa mezcla genial de risa y drama, y el mundo tan bien hecho donde pasa todo— eso tapa cualquier error que pueda tener.. así que, si te llama la atención el humor, ese toque de angustia existencial suave o simplemente el carisma de los personajes, este anime tiene algo especial que vale la pena vivir..
