Hello everyone, dear The Anime Realm community, I hope you are all doing great today, this time I want to share a new review with you all, I will give you my opinions on a great anime that I marathoned a few weeks ago, I will talk to you about the series: You Are Ms. Servant, or Kimi wa Meido-sama, I found it just like that, half by chance, I saw a promotional image with a maid that looked spectacular and I said: "Ok, what is this about?" Phew, I had no idea what a gem I was going to find... seriously, a few heartbreaks that I didn't see coming, look, imagine the scene: the main character, Hitoyoshi Yokoya, a high school student, just like that, ordinary... his life is pretty quiet, until one day, ding-dong!, the doorbell rings. And who do you think is there? A girl, in an immaculate maid uniform, asking if she can work for him… sounds a little weird, obviously, but here’s the kicker: she’s not just any girl looking for a job, no way!
She’s actually an elite, super-trained assassin! An assassin, the whole idea of an assassin trying to live a normal life as a maid is hilarious and, let’s be honest, totally awesome in real life… but in the anime, it’s pure gold, people! I was instantly hooked just because of how crazy the idea sounded, but where this series really, really shines is with the maid, Yuki. Her character development is… well, it’s EVERYTHING! When we first meet her, you instantly realize that something is seriously wrong with her… her eyes are kind of “dead”, they’re empty, reflecting a life that has only known pain, suffering, and brutal training as part of a giant assassin organization.
She seems like she was one of the best... much of the character work in the series focuses on her, and it's quite a journey to see how this girl, who at first is almost a robot, begins to "thaw" inside. She starts out as almost a machine, a blank slate who only understands the language of murder, and little by little, she learns to live like a "normal" person. It's about how she discovers joy in the simplest things, those everyday things that we take for granted, like sharing a meal, having friends, or simply having someone take care of you... the most beautiful part? You really see that transformation in her eyes; little by little, they lose that dull look and begin to have more life, to shine... it's such a powerful visual detail to show how she's healing inside, and it really touched my soul.
Hola a todos, querida comunidad de The Anime Realm, espero hoy estén super bien, en esta ocasión les quiero compartir una nueva reseña a todos ustedes, les daré mis opiniones de un anime genial que me maratonee hace unas semanas, les hablaré de la serie: You Are Ms. Servant, o Kimi wa Meido-sama, me lo encontré así, medio de casualidad, vi una imagen promocional con una maid que se veía espectacular y dije: "Ok, ¿y esto de qué va?". ¡Uf, ni me imaginaba la joyita que me iba a encontrar.. en serio, unos cuantos golpes al corazón que no vi venir, miren, imagínense la escena: el prota, Hitoyoshi Yokoya, un estudiante de prepa, así, común y corriente.. su vida es bastante tranqui, hasta que un día, ¡ding-dong!, suena el timbre. ¿Y quién creen que está ahí? Una chica, con un uniforme de sirvienta impecable, preguntando si puede trabajar para él.. suena un poco raro, obvio, pero aquí viene lo bueno: no es una chica cualquiera buscando trabajo, qué va!
En realidad, es una asesina de élite, ¡super entrenada! una asesina, toda la onda esta de una asesina intentando llevar una vida normal como sirvienta es para matarse de la risa y, seamos honestos, totalmente increíble en la vida real.. pero en el anime, ¡es oro puro, gente! Me enganchó al toque solo por lo loca que sonaba la idea, pero donde esta serie de verdad, de verdad se luce, es con la maid, Yuki. Su desarrollo de personaje es… bueno, ¡lo es TODO! Cuando la conocemos, te das cuenta al instante que algo anda muy mal con ella.. sus ojos estaban como "muertos", están vacíos, reflejando una vida que solo conoció dolor, sufrimiento y un entrenamiento brutal como parte de una organización de asesinos gigante.
Parece que era de las mejores.. gran parte del trabajo de personajes de la serie se centra en ella, y es todo un viaje ver cómo esta chica, que al principio es casi un robot, se va como "descongelando" por dentro, empieza siendo casi una máquina, una pizarra en blanco que solo entiende el idioma del asesinato, y de a poquito, va aprendiendo a vivir como una persona "normal". Se trata de cómo descubre la alegría en las cosas más simples, esas del día a día que uno da por sentalguien te cuide.. la parte más linda? Es que de verdad ves esa transformación en sus ojos,adas, como compartir una comida, tener amigos o simplemente que poco a poco pierden esa mirada apagada y empiezan a tener más vida, a brillar.. es un detalle visual tan potente para mostrar cómo va sanando por dentro, y de verdad que me llegó al alma.
And not to mention how her assassin skills get in the way when she tries to be a maid... pure comedy, the chick is trying to do things around the house, then when she's chopping the ingredients for dinner, she does it at the speed of light! And then there's the fact that she's always carrying knives, as if she had an arsenal on her, I swear... It's funny because, despite being a master assassin, a lethal weapon, at first she's a disaster with basic housework! This thing, her clumsiness around the house despite being perfect at other things, really makes her feel closer, it gives a charming touch to her personality, which in itself is kind of impeccable and a little intimidating, and then there's her chemistry with Hitoyoshi, the high school boy who hires her.
And surprise! He’s not your typical protagonist. He understands her problems and really tries to teach her to be more “normal,” helping her leave her murderous ways behind. Their relationship is the heart of the series, and it goes from that weird boss-employee thing to something much deeper and more special. They both have their own traumas to deal with – Hitoyoshi with his family problems – and in the end, they help each other heal. There are a ton of moments between them that really touch your heartstrings, mixed with some really good comedy! I do tell you that the anime does mention a possible age difference: Yuki looks like she's in her twenties, maybe even 24, while Hitoyoshi is a teenager, say 15 or 16... the series doesn't go into that much, which for some could be a "but", but for me on this occasion, the vibe was so focused on their emotional connection and how they support each other, that honestly, it didn't bother me much... and look, it's hard to stop it from happening.
Y ni hablar de cómo sus habilidades de asesina se meten cuando intenta ser sirvienta.. pura comedia, la tipa está intentando hacer las cosas de la casa, entonces, cuando está cortando los ingredientes pa' la cena, ¡lo hace a la velocidad de la luz! Y luego está el detalle de que siempre anda cargando cuchillos, como si tuviera un arsenal encima, les juro.. Da risa porque, a pesar de ser una maestra asesina, un arma letal, al principio es ¡un desastre con las tareas básicas de la casa! Esta onda, su torpeza en la casa a pesar de ser perfecta en lo otro, la verdad es que la hace sentir más cercana, le da un toque encantador a su personalidad, que de por sí es como impecable y un poquito intimidante, y después está su química con Hitoyoshi, el chico de prepa que la contrata.
Y ¡sorpresa!, no es el típico prota, el entiende sus problemas y de verdad intenta enseñarle a ser más "normal", ayudándola a dejar atrás sus mañas de asesina, su relación es el corazón de la serie, y va cambiando de ese rollo medio raro de jefe-empleada a algo mucho más profundo y especial.. los dos tienen sus propios traumas que cargar –Hitoyoshi con sus problemas familiares– y al final, se ayudan a sanar el uno al otro. Hay un montón de momentos que de verdad te tocan la fibra sensible entre ellos, mezclados con una comedia que está ¡buenísima! Eso sí, les digo que el anime menciona una posible diferencia de edad: Yuki parece que anda por los veintitantos, quizás hasta 24, mientras que Hitoyoshi es un adolescente, ponele unos 15 o 16.. la serie no se mete mucho en eso, lo que para algunos podría ser un "pero", pero para mí en esta ocasión, la onda estaba tan centrada en su conexión emocional y en cómo se apoyan, que la verdad, no me hizo mucho ruido.. y mira que para que no suceda es difícil.
And not to mention the supporting characters, people, they put a ton of effort into it too! Hitoyoshi’s little sister, Riko, is a total earthquake! She’s like a ball of energy, a walking sunshine, and she gets along famously with Yuki immediately, partly because Yuki is gorgeous and Riko loves beautiful women. Riko becomes the couple’s biggest fan, always wanting to get them together, and she also becomes like a little sister to Yuki, which is super important for Yuki to learn what’s up with family and love… then there’s Grace, another assassin from Yuki’s past… at first she arrives as a rival, wanting to eliminate Yuki to rise in the ranks of the underworld, in the end she stays, Grace adds a lot of comedy, it was a nice addition.
Now, maybe you hear “assassin” and “trauma” and think that this series is going to be dark, but the truth is, it’s more than anything a super fun romantic comedy, it does have a kind of healing vibe. Yes, it touches on Yuki’s trauma, and some parts are quite strong if you think about it, but the series handles that balance between seriousness and comedy well, it reminded me a little bit of Violet Evergarden, with that “human weapon learning to be human” thing, which to me, ugh!, always captivates me… And yes, the idea of maids or housewives protagonists being murderers with double lives is not new, new… there are gems like Spy x Family… but You Are Ms. Servant earns its own little place, and a lot of that is because of how it’s made, especially the animation!
It’s incredibly well done! Felix Film, the studio behind it, really killed it! The character movements are super fluid – and sometimes you’ll die laughing at how impossible they are, like Yuki’s jumps between buildings, which is like a fun nod to her assassin skills – and the color palette is just beautiful! It’s easy on the eyes, adds a lot to the viewing experience, and really lifts the story up. Even if you think the plot sounds kind of generic on paper, the quality of the animation makes every scene a joy to watch. It makes all the characters, especially the girls, look adorable!
Y ni hablar de los personajes secundarios, gente, le meten un montón de onda también! La hermanita de Hitoyoshi, Riko, es un ¡terremoto total! Es como una bolita de energía, un solcito andante, y se lleva de maravilla con Yuki al toque, en parte porque Yuki es guapísima y a Riko le encantan las mujeres hermosas, Riko se convierte en la fan número uno de la pareja, siempre queriendo juntarlos, y también se vuelve como una hermanita para Yuki, lo que es súper importante para que Yuki aprenda qué onda con la familia y el cariño.. luego está Grace, otra asesina del pasado de Yuki.. al principio llega como rival, queriendo eliminar a Yuki para subir de rango en el bajo mundo, al final se queda, Grace le mete mucha comedia, fue un buen añadido.
Ahora, capaz ustedes escuchan "asesina" y "trauma" y piensan que esta serie va a ser oscura, pero la verdad, es más que nada una comedia romántica súper divertida, tranqui tiene como esa vibra sanadora. Sí, toca el trauma de Yuki, y algunas partes son bien fuertes si te pones a pensar, pero la serie maneja bién ese balance entre lo serio y la comedia, me hizo acordar un poquito a Violet Evergarden, con ese rollo de "arma humana aprendiendo a ser humana", que a mí, ¡uff!, siempre me cautiva.. Y sí, la idea de maids o amas de casa protagonistas siendo asesinos con doble vida no es nueva, nueva.. ahí tienen joyitas como Spy x Family.. pero You Are Ms. Servant se gana su propio lugarcito, y mucho de eso es por cómo está hecha, ¡especialmente la animación
Está ¡increíblemente bien hecha! Felix Film, el estudio detrás, ¡se la rifaron! Los movimientos de los personajes son súper fluidos –y a veces te matas de risa de lo imposibles que son, como Yuki pegando esos saltos entre edificios, que es como un guiño divertido a sus habilidades de asesina– y la paleta de colores es ¡una belleza!, agradable a la vista, le suma un montón a la experiencia visual y de verdad, levanta la historia.. incluso si piensas que la trama suena medio genérica en papel, la calidad de la animación hace que cada escena sea un placer de ver. Hace que todos los personajes, sobre todo las chicas, se vean ¡encantadores!
I got right into it, I have to say… there were times when Yuki’s innocent reactions to normal, everyday kindnesses, or her genuine attempts to be better at cooking or just… be normal, had a lump in my throat… watching her really try to improve as a cook, at grocery shopping, even as a student when she signs up for school to look after Hitoyoshi! was just incredible. It’s those little moments, the normalcy of the daily grind, that become so precious when you understand all the pain she’s been through. So, after all that enthusiasm, what rating do I give it?
I’d give You Are Ms. Servant a solid 8.5/10, it’s a really good, enjoyable show… the characters are fantastic, especially Yuki!; the humour works; the heartfelt moments really hit you; and the animation is definitely a plus… why isn’t it higher? Well, I have to be honest, the end of the first season is kind of lame! It's one of those abrupt endings that leaves you hanging, thinking: "So, is that all?" And with no official announcement of a second season yet (fingers crossed!), well, yes, it does bring down the overall experience a bit... But despite that little stumble at the end, would I recommend it? Absolutely! If you're a fan of romance, soul-stirring anime, or just stories about characters finding their humanity, you'll probably love it... you'll have a good time, I promise... and well, that's it for today's review, I'll leave the opening below, take care! Me metí de lleno, les tengo que decir.. hubo momentos en que las reacciones inocentes de Yuki a la amabilidad normal, del día a día, o sus intentos genuinos por ser mejor en la cocina o simplemente por... ser normal, se me hacía un nudo en la garganta.. verla echándole todas las ganas para mejorar como cocinera, para hacer las compras en el súper, ¡incluso como estudiante cuando se mete a la escuela para cuidar a Hitoyoshi!, fue simplemente increíble, son esos pequeños momentos, la normalidad de la rutina diaria, los que se vuelven tan valiosos cuando entiendes todo el dolor por el que ha pasado. Entonces, después de tanto entusiasmo, ¿qué calificación le pongo?
Yo le pondría a You Are Ms. Servant un sólido 8.5/10, es una serie muy buena y que se disfruta un montón.. los personajes son fantásticos, ¡especialmente Yuki!; el humor funciona; los momentos emotivos te pegan; y la animación es, sin duda, un puntazo.. la razón por la que no es más alta? Bueno, tengo que ser sincero, el final de la primera temporada, ¡está medio chafa! Es de esos finales abruptos que te dejan colgado, pensando: "A ver, ¿eso es todo?". Y sin un anuncio oficial de una segunda temporada todavía (¡crucemos los dedos!), pues sí, te bajonea un poco la experiencia general.. Pero a pesar de ese pequeño tropiezo al final, ¿la recomendaría? ¡Absolutamente! Si eres fan del romance, del anime que te abraza el alma, o simplemente de historias sobre personajes que encuentran su humanidad, probablemente te va a encantar.. la vas a pasar bien, se los prometo.. y bueno, hasta aquí la reseña de hoy, les dejo el opening abajo, cuidense!
