Honestly, I didn't think I would do a second part talking about Dragon Ball's fanservice, but there's so much that I couldn't cover it all in a single post. And the worst part is that there might even be a third part 🤣

I may seem like a hater with these kinds of blogs, but the truth is, I hate how they've devalued this franchise over the years.

So as not to seem like such a hater, let's start with some fan service that wasn't too bad. I'm referring to Broly's incorporation into the canon with his latest movie.

I've mentioned it more than once, and I'll say it again: I never liked the Broly version of Dragon Ball Z. His motivation seemed totally stupid to me. There are more examples of fanservice, but I think that's enough. I don't like to criticize Dragon Ball too much. I still have fond memories of it from my childhood.

I have watched Dragon Ball Z when I had a kid but I don't recall any names. But I can understand what you're talking about Broly and I agree with your opinion. You're truly into characters depth, I have never thought about any character like that haha.

The Broly from dragon ball Z was just a flat character who wanted to destroy Goku out of irrational hatred, rather than deep motivation. Almost every villain in Dragon Ball has a predilection regarding their motivations, but with Cell, Freezer and Buu, there was a clear direction. They were evil, yes, but somehow they charmed.
I haven't seen the Broly movie yet. The old ones have. I think they made 3, right? The last one I saw was the one where he battled Gohan.
Too much fanservice ruins things. Sometimes, production companies choose to exploit something to the maximum, taking quality ahead.
You said it perfectly. Broly was a flat character. I would recommend you watch the new Broly movie from 2019. As it is I could say it's the best of Dragon Ball in the last decade.

Lo de Broly no me lo esperaba, pensé que sería lo mismo. en cuanto a Bardock fue una de las cosas más odiosas que pudieron hacer. PRefiero la versión de Toei, que era más fiel a la raza de los saiyajin que esa versión de Jor-El..
Era obvio que lo iban a cambiar y era necesario para mi.
En cuanto a lo de Bardock, veo que pensamos igual. Era mejor la versión antigua.

Totalmente. Ahora espero que súper continúe y que Broly sea bien adaptado para la serie partiendo de lo que vimos en la película.. y Bardock es la esencia se un verdadero guerrero saiyayin. Nunca olvidaré aquel guerrero que fue solo a la nave a desafíar al emperador del mal
You mentioned Broly original motivation as pathetic. What would you suggest as a more compelling motivation for a character in a similar context?
Literally anything would be a better motivation than “when we were babies, I cried a lot and that's why I hate it”. Just writing it already generates embarrassment for me xd.
A more coherent reason might be to hate Goku for being Vegeta's friend. Applying the “friend of my enemy is my enemy”.
