Hello Asian/Japanese animation lovers. I come with another of my Tops that I like to do so much and you like to read about a good personal collection of anime, but now of the action genre, which has been quite strong last year 2023, with such spectacular releases as the second season of Jujutsu Kaisen or the third season of Kimetsu no Yaiba. However, removing these two from the list, in this post you will see a selection of anime that I have seen and that I found most fascinating.
As you know, I made this top by rating from 1 to 10 the following five anime, starting with the worst and ending with the best of the collection, counting only the ones I have seen and consider the most relevant in the action genre. However, in this list you will see works interspersed with other genres such as fantasy, science fiction and comedy. I also remind you that all this is my personal opinion, so surely some of you will not agree with not adding the anime I mentioned at the beginning, but that's more for not having seen them, instead, I would have made a longer top.

Hola amantes de la animación asiática/japonesa. Vengo con otro de mis Tops de los que tanto me gusta hacer y a ustedes les gusta leer de una buena colección personal de animes, pero ahora del género de la acción, el cual ha estado bastante fuerte el pasado año 2023, con estrenos tan espectaculares como lo son la segunda temporada de Jujutsu Kaisen o la tercera temporada de Kimetsu no Yaiba. Sin embargo, quitando estos dos de la lista, en este post verás una selección de animes que he visto y que me han parecido de lo más fascinantes.
Como ya saben, este top lo hice calificando del 1 al 10 los siguientes cinco animes, empezaremos con el peor y terminaremos con el mejor de la colección, contando únicamente los que he visto y considero son los más relevantes del género de la acción. Sin embargo, en este listado verán obras entremezcladas con otros géneros como lo son la fantasía, la ciencia ficción y la comedia. También les recuerdo que todo esto es mi opinión personal, por lo cual seguramente no estará alguno de acuerdo con no agregar los animes que mencioné al principio, pero eso es más por no haberlos visto, en cambio, hubiera hecho un top más largo.

Rurouni Kenshin (2023)
Let's start with one of the most popular remakes of the past 2023, an anime that on this side of the pond is well known under the name "Samurai X", which transcended a whole generation and came back with a new animation and a new goal to reach new people that we didn't know this incredible Japanese animated work. One of the best remakes I have seen and I have been fascinated to enjoy it on air for six months.
This anime tells the story of a homeless man who decided to wander around the cities of Japan in the Meiji era, including Tokyo, where he encounters some people who have problems with some ex-military of the war. As a current pacifist he has no intention of looking for trouble, however, defending some members of the city, he confronts them using his inverted sword with a very ancient swordsmanship style that prevents him from killing the people he is facing. His techniques and way of fighting reveal that he is one of the most popular assassins of the previous era, an era he seeks to leave behind at all costs.
This second remake of the anime is impressive, with animation and visual and sound effects that are quite fascinating. This anime that has been around for decades revives one of the most iconic and influential characters in the world of anime and the genre. With battles between swords that are crazy, endearing characters and stories that show us a side of ancient Japan that many do not know. Undoubtedly, it is an anime worth watching and that, for the old-timers, is a gem full of nostalgia and very good memories.
Personally, I give it a rating of 8/10 as far as the action genre is concerned.

Empecemos con uno de los remakes más populares del pasado 2023, un anime que en este lado del charco es muy conocido con el nombre de “Samurai X”, el cual trascendió toda una generación y volvió con una nueva animación y un nuevo objetivo de llegar a gente nueva que no conocíamos esta increíble obra animada japonesa. De los mejores remakes que he visto y me ha fascinado disfrutar en emisión por seis meses.
Este anime nos cuenta la historia de un vagabundo que decidió vagar por las ciudades de Japón en la era Meiji, entre ellas Tokio, donde se topa con unas personas que tienen problemas con algunos ex-militares de la guerra. Como actual pacifista que es no tiene intenciones de buscar problemas, sin embargo, defendiendo a algunos miembros de la ciudad, él se enfrenta con ellos utilizando su espada invertida con un estilo muy antiguo de espadachín que evita que asesine a la gente a la que se enfrenta. Sus técnicas y forma de pelear revelan que es uno de los asesinos más populares de la anterior era, época que él busca dejar atrás a toda costa.
Este segundo remake del anime es impresionante, con una animación y unos efectos visuales y de sonido que fascinan bastante. Este anime que lleva ya varias décadas de historia nos revive s uno de los personajes más emblemáticos e influyentes del mundo del anime y del género. Con batallas entre espadas que son una locura, personajes entrañables e historias que nos muestran un lado de la antigua Japón que muchos no conocemos. Sin duda, es un anime que vale la pena ver y que, para los antiguos, es una joya repleta de nostalgia y muy buenos recuerdos.
Personalmente, le doy una calificación de 8/10 en lo que respecta al género de la acción.

MASHLE: Magic and Muscles
Let's go from history to fantasy with an anime that had a resoundingly unexpected success last year and that, even today, continues to have a great impact on today's popular culture. We are talking about the perfect blend of One Punch Man and Harry Potter: MASHLE. An anime that combines magic with muscles and melee fights, along with a good amount of comedy that we don't see much in works of this style, nowadays. Its style, animation, soundtrack, sound effects and impressive battles went down in history as one of the best anime released last 2023.
In a world where magic is everything, an old man meets a child who does not possess any mark, that is, a child without magic. He raises him far from the city and civilization, fearing that he would have problems with society, since they discriminate a lot against people who do not possess magic. As a teenager, our protagonist faces a situation that endangers the life of his (foster) grandfather, which forces him to enroll in the most prestigious school of magicians in the world in order to be the best magician in the world. However, this mission seems to be impossible since he does not possess magic, but he does possess a superhuman strength that will help him a lot.
An anime worth watching, with its characters as funny and varied as the different battles and confrontations it has, it is a perfect action and comedy work to watch on a weekend and spend time between laughs and surprises. The level of power in this anime is as absurd as the superhuman strength that the protagonist possesses, not to mention the jokes and the level of humor that the anime has at every moment. In and of itself, the protagonist is fun to watch, so it's worth enjoying his unique way of fighting powerful mages without using magic, just his brute strength.
Personally, I give it a rating of 8.5/10 as far as the comedy and fantasy genre is concerned.

Pasemos de historia a fantasía con un anime que tuvo un éxito rotundamente inesperado el año pasado y que, aún al día de hoy sigue impactando mucho en la cultura popular actual. Estamos hablando de la mezcla perfecta de One Punch Man con Harry Potter: MASHLE. Un anime que combina la magia con músculos y peleas cuerpo a cuerpo, junto con una buena cantidad de comedia que no vemos mucho en obras de este estilo, actualmente. Su estilo, animación, banda sonora, efectos de sonido y batallas impresionantes pasaron a la historia como uno de los mejores animes que se estrenó el pasado 2023.
En un mundo donde la magia lo es todo, un anciano se encuentra con un niño que no posee ninguna marca, es decir, un niño sin magia. El lo cría lejos de la ciudad y de la civilización con temor de que tuviera problemas con la sociedad, ya que discriminan mucho a la gente que no posee magia. Ya siendo un adolescente, nuestro protagonista se enfrenta a una situación que pone en peligro la vida de su abuelo (de crianza), lo cual lo obliga a inscribirse a la escuela de magos más prestigiosa del mundo con el objeto de ser el mejor mago del mundo. Sin embargo, esta misión parece ser imposible ya que él no posee magia, pero sí posee una fuerza sobrehumana que lo ayudará mucho.
Un anime que vale la pena ver, con sus personajes tan divertidos y variados como las distintas batallas y enfrentamientos que tiene la hacen ser una obra de acción y comedía perfecta para ver un fin de semana y pasar el rato entre risas y sorpresas. El nivel de poder en este anime es tan absurdo como la fuerza sobrehumana que posee el protagonista, eso sin contar los chistes y el nivel de humor que tiene el anime en cada momento. De por sí, el protagonista es divertido de ver, así que vale la pena disfrutar de su forma única de pelear contra magos poderosos sin usar magia, solo su fuerza bruta.
Personalmente, le doy una calificación de 8.5/10 en lo que respecta al género de la comedia y la fantasía.

Shangri-La Frontier
Now we go to the world of science fiction and immersive reality video games with an anime that will remind us a lot of Sword Art Online, but that stands out as one of the best Shonen anime of the past 2023. Impressive battles with powerful enemies and monsters, sound effects and visuals that fascinate, in addition to a very good quality animation and very well developed characters. A perfect combination of fiction, action and comedy that is worth watching as it is not what it appears to be, nor does it seek to be a copy of SAO or anything like that.
In a future where full immersive reality games abound, a "retro" and junk video game hunter is bored of so many games he has completed in his short life. A friend recommends him to try for the first time a hit game, which is the most popular game in the whole world, called Shangri-La Frontier. He decides to try the game while enjoying the incredible quality of design, visuals and development. However, the story catches him and certain decisions he makes will lead him to face a deadly and invincible enemy, thus testing his skills and experience in retro video games.
As I said before, this anime does not seek to be just another copy of SAO, but introduces us to a very different world with unique characters and stories. A protagonist that only seeks to fight monsters and enemies in a perfectly made total immersion video game, enemies and characters that seek to join him in search of adventures and digital treasures and a story that introduces us to this immense virtual world that is worth watching. Impressive battles, sound effects and a soundtrack, openings and animation that entertain and make you quite enjoy this animated work.
Personally, I give it a 9/10 rating for the action, science fiction and adventure genre.

Ahora vamos al mundo de la ciencia ficción y los videojuegos de realidad inmersiva con un anime que nos recordará mucho a Sword Art Online, pero que se destaca entre sí como uno de los mejores animes Shonen del pasado 2023. Batallas impresionantes con enemigos y monstruos poderosos, efectos de sonido y visuales que fascinan, amén de una animación de muy buena calidad y personajes muy bien desarrollados. Una combinación perfecta de ficción, acción y comedía que vale la pena ver ya que no es lo que aparenta ser, ni busca ser una copia de SAO ni nada por el estilo.
En un futuro donde abundan los juegos de realidad inmersiva completa, un cazador de videojuegos “retro” y basura está aburrido de tantos juegos que ha completado en su corta vida. Una amiga le recomienda probar por primera vez un juego exitoso, el cual es el más popular de todo el mundo, llamado Shangri-La Frontier. Él decide probar dicho juego mientras disfruta de la increíble calidad de diseño, visuales y desarrollo que tiene. Sin embargo, la historia lo atrapa y ciertas decisiones que él toma lo llevará a enfrentarse a un enemigo mortal e invencible, poniendo a prueba así sus habilidades y experiencia en videojuegos retro.
Como dije anteriormente, este anime no busca ser una copia más de SAO, sino que nos introduce a un mundo muy distinto con personajes e historias únicas en su estilo. Un protagonista que solo busca pelear con monstruos y enemigos en un vídeojuego de inmersión total perfectamente hecho, enemigos y personajes que buscan unirse a él en busca de aventuras y tesoros digitales y una historia que nos presenta este inmenso mundo virtual que vale la pena ver. Batallas impresionantes, efectos de sonido y una banda sonora, openings y animación que entretienen y te hacen disfrutar bastante de esta obra animada.
Personalmente, le doy una calificación de 9/10 en lo que respecta al género de la acción, la ciencia ficción y la aventura.

Undead Unluck
Let's continue with an action, fantasy and comedy anime that was one of the most awaited and most criticized of the past year 2023. With a very good animation, this anime was positioned among the most watched and popular of the time. Its different battles, characters and stories are the most talked about in social networks. However, although it is not one of the best that has been seen in history, I did enjoy a lot of this work between the six months of broadcasting it was on. An anime that is not for everyone, unlike the previous ones, but worth watching.
In a world where certain people are born with a unique ability, a girl lived in seclusion from society since she was a little girl when she was the cause of a plane crash that killed hundreds of people, including her parents. Her "bad luck" causes anyone who touches her to suffer some calamity, even death. One day, she decides to commit suicide by throwing herself on the rails of a train, but a guy in clothes with her stops her. She tells him not to touch her because she might die, but strangely he is looking for that, since he also has an ability that never allows him to die.
This story is somewhat peculiar, the main character couple is too, and although the beginning is not to many people's liking (I say this because of the high fanservice it has from the beginning) it is still worth watching for everything it deals with in the background. A world where there are people with abilities, organizations that seek to end a divine being, infinite loops, time travel, impressive battles, absurd power levels and moments that will leave you with your heart in your hand. All this and more is what you will enjoy from this anime.
Personally, I give it a 9.5/10 rating as far as the action and fantasy genre is concerned.

Sigamos con un anime de acción, fantasía y comedia que fue de los más esperados y más criticados del pasado año 2023. Con una muy buena animación, este anime se posicionó entre los más vistos y populares de la época. Sus diferentes batallas, sus personajes y sus historias son lo que más se habla en redes sociales. Sin embargo, aunque no es de lo mejor que se ha visto en la historia, sí disfruté mucho de esta obra entre los seis meses de emisión en los que estuvo. Un anime que no es para todo el mundo, a diferencia de los anteriores, pero que vale la pena ver.
En un mundo donde ciertas personas nacen con una habilidad única, una chica vivió recluida de la sociedad desde pequeña al ser la causante de un accidente de avión que acabó con la vida de cientos de personas, incluyendo sus padres. Su “mala suerte” hace que cualquiera que la toque le suceda alguna calamidad, hasta la muerte. Un día, ella decide suicidarse tirándose sobre los rieles de un tren, pero un tipo de ropa con ella y la detiene. Ella le dice que no la toque porque puede morir, pero extrañamente él está buscando eso, ya que él también tiene una habilidad que no le permite morir nunca.
Esta historia es un tanto peculiar, la pareja de protagonistas también lo es y, si bien el inicio no es del agrado de mucha gente (lo digo por el alto fanservice que tiene desde el principio) vale la pena aún así verlo por todo lo que trata de trasfondo. Un mundo donde existen gente con habilidades, organizaciones que buscan acabar con un ser divino, bucles infinitos, viajes en el tiempo, batallas impresionantes, niveles de poder absurdos y momentos que te dejarán con el corazón en la mano. Todo esto y más es lo que disfrutarás de este anime.
Personalmente, le doy una calificación de 9.5/10 en lo que respecta al género de la acción y la fantasía.

That's right, let's end with an anime that fascinated me quite a lot (you were probably expecting to see what I put the second season of Jujutsu Kaisen, but I haven't even seen the first season, so that's why I don't count it in this top). It's an anime that completely blew my mind with the tremendous quality of animation, battles, sound effects and visuals it has. The battles that this work has are also impressive and, although they don't compare to masterpieces like the one mentioned at the beginning of the post, they are a visual delight worth enjoying.
In ancient times people believed in immortality, a flower that almost no one knew about but which everyone talked about gives you the power to live forever. In search of it, great leaders gather assassins and very dangerous people to take them to a mysterious island where, according to them, the flower can be found. However, no one who has gone there has survived and no one knows what is hidden on the island. Among them there is a ninja, a cold-blooded killer well known in the underworld with superhuman strength and power, but his intention is only to return home and live peacefully.
In this anime we can find everything from ninjas and swordsmen, to mutant and immortal beings with superhuman powers. A perfect mix of action, dark fantasy and gore that will leave you fascinated, with impeccable animation and very well developed characters. The battles, meanwhile, are a spectacle of visuals with sound effects and animation that are quite entertaining. The mystery is also another of its strengths, since while the story unfolds, certain doubts and concerns flood your mind. It is one of those works that seeks to trap the viewer from the first chapter. An animated masterpiece worth watching.
Personally, I give it a well-deserved rating of 10/10 as far as the genre of action, dark fantasy and gore is concerned.

Así es, finalicemos con un anime que me fascinó bastante (seguramente esperabas ver que colocara la segunda temporada de Jujutsu Kaisen, pero es que no he visto ni la primera temporada, así que por eso no la cuento en este top). Es un anime que me voló la cabeza por completo con la tremenda calidad de animación, batallas, efectos de sonido y visuales que tiene. Las batallas que tiene esta obra también son impresionantes y, si bien no sé comparan a obras maestras como la mencionada al principio del post, sí que son un deleite visual que vale la pena disfrutar.
En la antigüedad se creía en la inmortalidad, una flor que casi nadie conocía pero del cual todos hablaban te otorga dicho poder de vivir para siempre. En busca de ello, grandes líderes reúnen a asesinos y gente muy peligrosa para llevarlos a una isla misteriosa donde, según, se puede encontrar dicha flor. Sin embargo, nadie que ha ido ha sobrevivido y lo que se esconde en dicha isla nadie lo sabe. Entre ellos existe un ninja, un asesino a sangre fría muy conocido en el bajo mundo con una fuerza y poder sobrehumana, pero que su intención es solo volver a casa y vivir tranquilo.
En este anime podemos encontrar de todo, desde ninjas y espadachines, hasta seres mutantes e inmortales con poderes sobrehumanos. Una mezcla perfecta de acción, fantasía oscura y gore que te dejará fascinado, con una animación impecable y personajes muy bien desarrollados. Las batallas, por su parte, son todo un espectáculo de visuales con efectos de sonido y animación que entretienen bastante. El misterio también es otro de sus fuertes, ya que mientras la historia se desarrolla, ciertas dudas e inquietudes te inundan la mente. Es de esas obras que busca atrapar al espectador desde el primer capítulo. Una obra maestra animada que vale la pena ver.
Personalmente, le doy una muy merecida calificación de 10/10 en lo que respecta al género de la acción, la fantasía oscura y el gore.

You have to see this Remake, it's great. If you are a fan of the work from decades ago, you will be fascinated to see it and it will be like reliving old memories, but with newer, more fluid animation and visual and sound effects that are crazy. 100% recommended.

Jigokuraku is amazing, I was really surprised by this anime. It's very creepy even though it doesn't seem so at first, the gore is something that also caught my attention. We are waiting for the second season which I think is coming by the end of the year, we'll see...

I'm also looking forward to the second season coming soon. That ending left me with my head steaming because of how unexpected it all was. It has a lot of potential for being one of the best animated works in history. I just hope they continue to maintain the incredible style and animation that they had in this first season.

What a fantastic surprise, I've just published a post about Shangri-La Frontier, I love how this anime works. Even though it reminds me of some copies of Sword Art Online, with the same cliché story of the protagonist being the best player than anyone who has been there for a long time.
