Now, let's define some Characteristics of Shojo that will help us quickly identify this type of story.

We can also find female protagonists who start out showing a weak side, and their experiences shape their personality, making the character mature through the journey of their life in the story.
Romance and Relationships: Romance is the central element in most shojo stories. Romantic relationships are often complex and filled with emotional twists, keeping readers and viewers hooked. The feelings and emotions that the characters go through are often heart-wrenching, and we can see the turmoil of emotions in the characters' inner world through their eyes.
Friendship and Social Dynamics: Friendships and social dynamics are fundamental in this type of story. The protagonists usually have a close group of friends with whom they share their joys and sorrows, adding depth to the stories. These friendships will be the ones that give the protagonist strength when facing any emotional breakdown, helping her overcome the conflict.

Now, let's name some Classic and Modern Examples of this genre that you've probably seen, read, or heard about:

No soy muy asidua a consumir anime, de vez en cuando veo alguna que otra película que de verdad llama mi atención por su historia, en especial cuando me las recomiendan, pero me quedo sorprendida de la cantidad de géneros y subgéneros que hay en torno a este estilo de animación.
Sí! Es muy amplio. A diferencia de la forma de clasificar los géneros en occidente, en Oriente son más específicos hacia la audiencia a la que se enfocan, así que el abanico de opciones es muy amplio y bastante conciso al momento de seleccionar
