¡Hola Comunidad de amantes del Anime y el Manga!
En el post de hoy, quiero hacer un pequeño análisis del simbolísmo presente en uno de los anime que ha sido impactante tanto por su trama como la forma en que sus personajes interactúan. Me refiero a "Death Note".
Este anime está lleno de elementos simbólicos que dan mucha profundidad a la trama y que, a veces, se dejan pasar un tanto por alto al momento de disfrutar la serie.
Antes de continuar, quiero hacer una advertencia de Spoiler Alert a quienes aún no han visto la serie, ya que algunos elementos podrían dar pistas o respuestas a muchas de las dudas que surgen en la historia.
Podemos decir que el elemento más emblemático en la historia es el mismo "Death Note" o cuaderno de la muerte. Este cuaderno le da la facultad a su poseedor de matar a cualquier persona cuyo nombre sea escrito en él. Acá tenemos el símbolo de poder absoluto y tentación.El cuaderno de la muerte es una representación de la lucha interna que tiene Light Yagami: su deseo de justicia versus su sed de poder. El cuaderno de la muerte también se convierte en un símbolo de la dualidad del bien y el mal. En sí es un elemento neutro que actuará dependiendo de la intención de su poseedor que puede ser usado para hacer el bien o el mal. Acá podríamos decir que es como un cuchillo, dependiendo de quién lo tenga en sus manos actuará: en manos de un chef puede crear platos maravillosos pero en manos de alguien con intenciones malignas, puede causar mucho daño.
Luego, tenemos otro elemento presente en "Death Note": los Shinigami o dioses de la muerte. Ryuk es el Shinigami que deja caer el cuaderno de la muerte en el mundo de los humanos. Esto lo hace un símbolo de la indiferencia y el aburrimiento. La presencia de los Shinigami nos indica que la idea de la vida y la muerte son sucesos inevitables y que los humanos están a merced de fuerzas superiores a ellos. También, los Shinigami vienen a ser una representación de que la muerte es una parte natural del ciclo de la vida y que intentar manipularla o evitarla puede acarrerar consecuencias terribles.
El siguiente elemento simbólico importante que en contramos en "Death Note" es el apodo "Kira". Éste significa "esperanza". Light toma este apodo como un dios de un nuevo orden de justicia. Este apodo viene a simbolizar la esperanza que Light tiene en crear un nuevo mundo: uno mejor, libre de crimen y corrupción. Pero este apodo se convierte en una ironía debido a que el método que usa Light para impartir justicia es a través del miedo, el terror y la muerte, haciéndonos reflexionar si los fines justifican los medios aún cuando la idea inicial parezca noble.
Mientras la historia se desarrolla, podemos ver que entre Light Yagami y L, un famoso detective, se teje una especie de dinámica al estilo del juego del gato y el ratón. Esto se convierte en una representación de la lucha entre justicia y crimen, la inteligencia y la astucia. Tanto Light como L son increiblemente inteligentes y se mantienen intentando superarse mutuamente. Esto se convierte en un símbolismo de la idea de que la justicia y el crimen se mantienen constantemente en conflicto y que el límite entre una y la otra es muy fina.
También encontramos otro elemento: el Ojo del Shinigami. Este es un símbolo de conocimiento y poder, ya que le permite a su poseedor, ver el nombre de cualquier persona que se encuentre a punto de morir. Podemos decir que en "Death Note", el Ojo del Shinigami se converte en un símbolo de corrupción del poder y la tentación ya que, cuando Light Yagami lo tiene en su poder, este lo convierte en un ser omnipotente pero también lo consume por su ansias de poder y control.
Pero, tal vez el elemento más simbólico y central a través de "Death Note" es el tema de la justicia. Lo encontramos en varios elementos: el cuaderno de la muerte, Kira, la lucha entre L y Light. Todos estos son símbolos de búsqueda de justicia. Pero en "Death Note" se trata la justicia desde la perspectiva de que esta puede ser muy subjetiva y que los elementos para llegar a ella pueden ser cuestionables. Se resalta la complejidad de la justicia y la moralidad, haciendo que quienes siguen la historia, reflexionen sobre las creencias propias y los valores.
Como podemos ver, "Death Note" es una obra que, más allá de la acción, nos hace pensar, analizar y filosofar sobre un tema que está siempre presente en nuestras vidas y cómo lo que pensamos puede ser justo, no siempre lo es para los demás, así como la forma de ejecutar esa justicia puede llegar a ser cuestionable.

Hello Anime and Manga Lovers Community!
In today's post, I want to do a small analysis of the symbolism present in one of the anime that has been impactful both for its plot and the way its characters interact. I am referring to "Death Note."
This anime is full of symbolic elements that add much depth to the plot and that, sometimes, are somewhat overlooked when enjoying the series.
Before continuing, I want to give a Spoiler Alert warning to those who have not yet seen the series, as some elements could give away clues or answers to many of the doubts that arise in the story.
We can say that the most emblematic element in the story is the "Death Note" or notebook of death itself. This notebook gives its possessor the ability to kill anyone whose name is written in it. Here we have the symbol of absolute power and temptation. The death note is a representation of the internal struggle that Light Yagami has: his desire for justice versus his thirst for power. The death note also becomes a symbol of the duality of good and evil. In itself, it is a neutral element that will act depending on the intention of its possessor, which can be used to do good or evil. Here we could say that it is like a knife; depending on who has it in their hands, it will act: in the hands of a chef, it can create wonderful dishes, but in the hands of someone with malicious intentions, it can cause a lot of harm.
Next, we have another element present in "Death Note": the Shinigami or gods of death. Ryuk is the Shinigami who drops the death note into the world of humans. This makes him a symbol of indifference and boredom. The presence of the Shinigami indicates that the idea of life and death are inevitable events and that humans are at the mercy of forces superior to them. Also, the Shinigami come to be a representation that death is a natural part of the cycle of life and that trying to manipulate it or avoid it can bring terrible consequences.
The next important symbolic element we encounter in "Death Note" is the alias "Kira". This means "hope." Light takes this alias as a god of a new order of justice. This alias comes to symbolize the hope that Light has in creating a new world: a better one, free of crime and corruption. But this alias becomes an irony because the method that Light uses to impart justice is through fear, terror, and death, making us reflect if the ends justify the means even when the initial idea seems noble.
As the story develops, we can see that between Light Yagami and L, a famous detective, a kind of cat-and-mouse dynamic is woven. This becomes a representation of the struggle between justice and crime, intelligence, and cunning. Both Light and L are incredibly intelligent and keep trying to outdo each other. This becomes a symbolism of the idea that justice and crime are constantly in conflict and that the line between the two is very fine.
We also find another element: the Shinigami's Eye. This is a symbol of knowledge and power, as it allows its possessor to see the name of any person who is about to die. We can say that in "Death Note," the Shinigami's Eye becomes a symbol of the corruption of power and temptation because, when Light Yagami has it in his possession, it turns him into an omnipotent being but also consumes him with his desires for power and control.
But perhaps the most symbolic and central element throughout "Death Note" is the theme of justice. We find it in various elements: the death note, Kira, the struggle between L and Light. All of these are symbols of the search for justice. But in "Death Note," justice is treated from the perspective that it can be very subjective and that the elements to achieve it can be questionable. The complexity of justice and morality is highlighted, making those who follow the story reflect on their own beliefs and values.
As we can see, "Death Note" is a work that, beyond the action, makes us think, analyze, and philosophize about a theme that is always present in our lives and how what we think may be just, is not always just for others, as well as the way of executing that justice can be questionable.

Death Note es un anime que va mas alla del entretenimiento, nos hace dudar de lo que esta bien y lo que esta mal, la idea de crear un nuevo orden mundial de Light estaba distorsionada por el poder que le dio el cuaderno, que como bien dices, depende de en que manos caiga, es el desmadre que ocasionara y Riuk sabia eso, solo queria ver arder el mundo, ok no jajajaja
Una persona que vela por lo correcto puede desviarse del camino cuando tiene algo tan poderoso en sus manos, asi le paso al ironico Kira jaja
La justicia en esta serie muestra todas sus caras, depende del ojo de quien la vea, lo que estaba bien para Light, estaba mal para L y viceversa, asi que sí, la justicia tiene muchas caras y es subjetiva 👀
Jajaja! Sí! Efectivamente, Riuk sólo quería ver arder el mundo. Estaba aburrido y dijo: "a ver.. a ver... qué hago contra el aburrimiento? 🤔" y les lanzó el cuaderno a ver qué pasaba 😅
Realmente es una historia que desafía todo lo que pensamos sobre la justicia y su forma de impartirla 😃
