World, This Is Japan's Style of Political Correctness!
The original work is an adult game. Directed by Nobuyoshi Nagayama, produced by Passione.
Getting Punched with a Right Straight from Episode 1
The first episode hits hard right from the start. This work, based on an adult game, has garnered attention for its provocative dialogue and scenes, raising questions like, “Can this even be animated? And if it is, can it be broadcast on terrestrial TV?”
While many adult games, such as “crying games,” have been adapted into anime, this one isn’t a pure crying game. Naturally, people wondered how it could be adapted. The show answers that question by delivering a right straight to the audience’s jaw. The opening line of Episode 1 is:
“Hello to all the perverted, sex-loving people across the nation!”
How’s that? (LOL) For the sake of this site, some words are censored, but in the anime, they’re not. The voice actors, alongside a mascot character, boldly explain the special ordinance that applies only to “Seiran Island.”
In short, this ordinance encourages men and women who have reached adulthood to engage in sexual activities anywhere on the island. There are outrageous facilities disguised as “entertainment venues,” and while the regulated version obscures visuals, the sheer power of the keywords alone is enough to overwhelm.
The protagonist and his sister move to this seemingly un-Japanese island, which has a special ordinance for “town revitalization”—the so-called “lewd ordinance.” The constant barrage of crude or downright insane dialogue is enough to drive you crazy (LOL). Naturally, in such a place, the homeroom teacher casually exposes her chest.
Even a typical school phrase like “Teacher, I need the bathroom!” takes on a different flavor here:
“Yes, yes, the teacher is everyone’s toilet!”
The protagonist and his sister move to this outrageous island, but the protagonist has a sense of normal ethics.
Ethics
The ethics and values of the island’s residents are bizarre. In real-world Japan, engaging in acts with strangers is generally frowned upon—a “majority” value that most readers likely share.
But not on this island. Most residents lack such values. Raised in an environment where such behavior is “normal,” engaging with multiple partners is commonplace. Conversely, those who don’t are punished.
It’s akin to a “traditional village” with strange customs, but with a lewd twist (LOL). On this island, the protagonist, with his normal values, is a “minority.” While fleeing from having his “first time” forcibly taken, he gains the means to fight back.
To protect his ethics and his sister’s chastity, he resolves to destroy the “lewd ordinance.” The words and scenes are utterly vulgar, but if you strip away the crude elements, the story is a classic shonen manga-style tale of passion. The mix of a bizarre world and a serious narrative is enough to drive viewers mad.
Trauma
To a pubescent boy, this island might seem like a dream. But the protagonist has trauma. He was bullied for the size of his “third leg,” leading him to refuse to let anyone see it.
His views on gender are pure and old-fashioned, and his sister is a lesbian—a “minority” on an island that promotes only heterosexual acts. Homosexuality isn’t encouraged here, making her another “minority.”
The show is playful but also portrays minority values. In society, holding values outside the “correct” norm—like homosexuality or unique sexual preferences—is challenging.
This is a story of minorities challenging the majority. Beyond the protagonist and his sister, others struggle with insecurities about their appearance. Overseas, “political correctness” often features homosexuality and diverse races to address discrimination and promote diversity.
This work is precisely that kind of political correctness. It portrays homosexuality, lookism, and minority values, depicting the struggles of minorities in a majority-driven society and their “revolution” against it.
Forming an anti-intercourse faction to eradicate loveless acts, they raise the white flag of revolution. The actions are cool, but the dialogue is a barrage of crude humor (LOL). The pink-tinted vocabulary produces laugh-out-loud lines.
Using brains and sometimes his “son,” the protagonist schemes to destroy the lewd ordinance. (By the way, he casually loses his virginity mid-story (LOL).)
Regulation
The animation quality is exceptionally high. Produced by Passione, known for Interspecies Reviewers, the show comes in three versions: fully regulated, streaming-exclusive, and Seiran Island versions, with varying degrees of censorship.
The terrestrial broadcast version is heavily censored, with visuals and audio so restricted that only about 40% of the show’s charm comes through. The streaming-exclusive version, while still censored, leaves some parts intact, letting you finally appreciate the work.
The Seiran Island version is available only on AT-X or Blu-ray, which I haven’t seen, but it’s likely the intended experience. The show received two complaints from the Broadcasting Ethics and Program Improvement Organization (BPO) during its run, making its completion a miracle.
In an era of strict regulations, unlike the golden age of adult anime 15 years ago, this is an incredibly bold work. A story set on an island where people are constantly engaging in acts was nearly impossible to air on terrestrial TV. Yet, with heavy censorship, it made it through—a miracle.
It’s undeniably sexy but transforms that sexiness into “gags” while adhering to a Japanese-style “political correctness,” creating a ridiculous yet passionate and sexy work.
It’s compelling enough to make you want to buy the Blu-ray, which has sold over 10,000 copies—a true hit. In recent years, even popular anime struggle to sell 5,000 copies, so this harkens back to the golden era of adult anime. Producing such works every season would be tough, though (LOL).
FS
The protagonist infiltrates the enemy organization, “FS.” There, he learns truths he couldn’t know during the conflict. The islanders, enjoying the lewd ordinance, and FS, protecting that world, seem happy. Learning of the enemy’s happiness and justice, the protagonist wavers.
Like a Gundam protagonist, he grapples with dilemmas. Addressing modern issues like peer pressure, lookism, and gender bias, the show mixes in bleeped-out dialogue (LOL).
As the lewd ordinance threatens to spread nationwide, the protagonist considers sacrificing his “son” to protect what he couldn’t before. But his allies reject such self-sacrifice.
For unbridled, authentic intercourse, free from constraints. It feels like a certain snow queen might start singing by the end.
30%
In the climax, the protagonist awakens, seeking a place for the 30% like him in a world that doesn’t accept them. But he doesn’t ignore or erase the 70%. Mutual acceptance allows coexistence.
“I’ll protect our daily life with you all!”
Through interactions, he deeply understands “diversity.” They may be minorities on this island, but that doesn’t mean denying the majority.
Minority or majority is just a matter of numbers. Existence is equal. He strives for a world of mutual understanding and acceptance. His “son” may be raring to go, but it’s a beautiful answer (LOL).
Heating things up opens new paths—a new “lewd” path. The battle is just beginning. While the one-cour story doesn’t fully conclude, it ends at a good point, tempting you to play the original game or hope for a “mythical” second season.
Overall: The Top Anime of 2025!
This is an all-out aggressive work. In an era of strict regulations where sexy anime are tough to produce, even with two BPO complaints and heavy censorship making the terrestrial version confusing, it saw it through.
It’s wild and downright silly, a storm of crude humor and innuendos. Yet, the unique dialogue showcases incredible vocabulary, enjoyable even with censorship.
Despite its playfulness, it tackles “diversity” with Disney-level sincerity. In a village-like setting with outrageous ordinances, the clash between minorities and the majority, culminating in mutual understanding, is masterfully done.
It’s playful yet serious, wild yet passionate. This distinctly “Japanese anime” take on political correctness is refreshing and highly selective, but I urge you to watch at least the first episode.
You’ll surely get hooked on the Nukitashi world.
Personal Thoughts: Fantastic
From the shocking first episode, I thoroughly enjoyed all 11 episodes. Few works are this bold. Its originality is unmatched, with a unique charm.
As a sexy anime, it’s selective, but it’s brimming with ambition, irony, and love. A second season might be tough, but I’d love to see the story continue in anime form.
Fascination proposal.
Fascination proposal? Oh, on Seiran Island, your proposal would get an instant ‘yes’! But as a minority with pure ethics, I say join the ‘anti-intercourse’ faction first. Ready to start a revolution? 😂
Well it is ok too. Meaning, you can allay with anything you like. But let me give you a piece of advice, don't be too close your generation settles and preferences. The conservative now it will be the liberal tomorrow.
I didn’t think a show with such a premise could carry Disney-level sincerity about diversity, but the way you described it makes it sound surprisingly heartfelt.
Thanks for the love! Right? Who’d think a show this wild could sneak in Disney-level heart? Nukitashi’s got that crazy mix of crude humor and sincere diversity vibes.
Yeah, and that’s rare to pull off.
