Violet Evergarden is currently my favourite anime, the first time I saw it I didn't expect much, the first two chapters seemed to me the most normal thing in the world, what I couldn't expect was what was coming, a rollercoaster of feelings and a plot with a quite well elaborated drama. The thing is that this anime was so good that I got to see it twice, alone and then with my sister. Both times I cried, really impressive. One would expect that knowing everything that is going to happen, you couldn't cry twice, but I did.
Violet Evergarden es actualmente mi anime favorito, la primera vez que lo vi no esperaba gran cosa, los primeros dos capítulos me parecieron lo más normal del mundo, lo que no podía esperarme era lo que se avecinaba, una montaña rusa de sentimientos y una trama con un drama bastante bien elaborado. La cosa es que este anime fue tan bueno que llegué a verlo dos veces, solo y después con mi hermana. Las dos veces lloré, de verdad impresionante. Uno esperaría que al saber todo lo que va a pasar, no podrías llorar dos veces, pero lo hice.
Violet Evergarden tells us the story of Violet, a girl who was trained to be a killing machine until she is taken in by Major Gilbert, who will treat her as a human, teach her to write, read and also give her the name she currently has. Violet does not understand other people's emotions and expressions at all, she does not know what love is, she does not know what it is to feel sad or upset. After Major Gilbert sacrifices his life and says the following words to her when he saves her: 'Violet, I love you', Violet will set off on her journey to discover what these words mean.
Violet Evergarden nos narra la historia de Violet, una chica que fue entrenada para ser una máquina de matar hasta que es acogida por su mayor Gilbert, quien la tratará como humana, le enseñará a escribir, leer y además le dará el nombre que actualmente posee. Violet no comprende para nada las emociones y expresiones de las demás personas, no sabe qué es el amor, no sabe qué es sentirse triste o molesta. Después de que el mayor Gilbert sacrifique su vida y le exprese las siguientes palabras al salvarla: 'Violet, te amo', Violet emprenderá su viaje para descubrir qué significan dichas palabras.
To achieve her goal Violet will start working in a mail company as an Auto Memory Doll, which is responsible for conveying people's feelings in letters while clients tell them what they want to express. This will be a really difficult task for Violet, as she does not understand the feelings at all and does not know how to interpret them, making the only thing she will do is to write hurtful or very direct letters that will be unpleasant for the clients, causing the adverse effect of what they want.
Para lograr su objetivo Violet empezará a trabajar en una empresa de correos como una Auto Memory Doll, las cuales se encargan de transmitir los sentimientos de la gente en cartas mientras los clientes le dicen qué desean expresar. Esto será una tarea realmente difícil para Violet, ya que ella no comprende en absoluto los sentimientos y no sabe cómo interpretarlos, haciendo que lo único que haga sean cartas hirientes o muy directas que serán desagradables para los clientes, causando el efecto adverso de lo que ellos desean.
Violet when starting the series acts totally as if she were a complete robot but little by little we will see how she advances in that aspect, the discovery of the feelings will make her way of acting human and with it she will attract more clients who will ask for her only because of the excellence of her letters. The situations and backgrounds of the clients, their cases that will be presented to us on screen are truly interesting, dramatic and highly emotional. The letters that are written and shown to us as a resolution will surely bring out our tears.
Violet al comenzar la serie actúa totalmente como si fuera un completo robot pero poco a poco transcurre la serie veremos cómo avanza en ese aspecto, el descubrimiento de los sentimientos hará que su forma de actuar sea humana y consigo atraerá más clientes que la solicitarán solo a ella debido a la excelencia de sus cartas. Las situaciones y trasfondo de los clientes, sus casos que se nos presentarán en pantalla son de verdad interesantes, dramáticos y sumamente emocionales. Las cartas que se escriben y que en su momento se nos muestran como resolución harán que de seguro nuestras lágrimas salgan a flote.
The evolution of the character is present at all times, being too well used. We can see how our protagonist goes from being a killing machine to being a sensitive person with feelings, coming in due time to consider and suffer for the thousands of lives she took with her own hands. Realizing that she was actually on fire, that everything she did was harmful to her and the people she killed. It comes to the point that Violet, does not want to kill any more people even if her own life is in danger, because she does not want to kill but to live and let other people live, people who have life, who have relatives waiting for them.
La evolución de personaje está presente en todo momento, estando demasiado bien empleado. Se ve cómo nuestra protagonista pasa de ser una máquina de matar a ser una persona sensible con sentimientos, llegando en su debido momento a plantearse y sufrir por las miles de vida que tomó con sus propias manos. Dándose cuenta que ella en realidad estaba ardiendo, que todo lo que hizo fue dañino para ella y las personas a las que asesinó. Se llega al punto que Violet, ya no quiere matar más gente ni aunque su propia vida esté en peligro, porque ella no quiere matar sino vivir y que las demás personas vivan, personas que tienen vida, que tienen familiares que esperan por ellos.
The music and visual approach offered by Kyoto Animation gives us a totally fluid product with excellent animation. The scenarios designed leave us with a memory of what Europe would be like in the inter-war period. The picturesque and colourful landscapes make everything feel alive. The music, which is orchestral, makes situations feel even more emotional, being one of the many factors well used that will make the shell of the toughest spectator break.
La música y el planteamiento visual ofrecido por Kyoto Animation nos entrega un producto totalmente fluido y con excelente animación, los escenarios diseñados nos dejan un recuerdo a lo que sería Europa en la época entreguerras. Los paisajes pintorescos y coloridos hace que todo se sienta vivo. La música que es orquestal hace que las situaciones se sientan aún más emotivas, siendo uno de los tantos factores bien empleados que harán que la coraza del más duro espectador se rompa.
In short, Violet Evergarden is perfectly capable of showing how such an old-fashioned system as letters could be important in a war situation it shows us in a perfect way the evolution of the personality of an excellent protagonist, that from being a killing machine to being a sensitive person, the dramatic situations with long dialogues are ideal to express well the feelings that are wanted to transmit although in certain cases small of that and they make them look honeyed, the excellent animation and sound track do that everything together make of this product something that is capable of showing in a masterly way a good story with too many feelings.
En síntesis, Violet Evergarden es perfectamente capaz de mostrar cómo un sistema tan anticuado como lo podrían ser las cartas eran importantes en una situación de guerras, nos muestra de forma perfecta la evolución de la personalidad de una excelente protagonista, que de ser una máquina de matar pase a ser una persona sensible, las situaciones dramáticas con diálogos largos son ideales para expresar bien los sentimientos que se desean transmitir aunque en ciertos casos peque de eso y los hagan ver ñoños, la excelente animación y banda sonora hacen que todo en conjunto hagan de éste producto algo que sea capaz de mostrar en pantalla de manera magistral una buena historia con demasiados feels.
