Ask Anime Question of the Week:
It's an opinion. What's the anime that comes to mind where the major plot point / conflict has been established but along the way, there's subplot developing for the sake of twist or character development that's unnecessary to the main storyline? Hint: Anime with a lot of fillers are a common culprit.

Well, the first anime that comes to my mind is Boruto: Naruto Next Generations. I feel some of the first arcs doesn't add value to the main story and are just fillers.
In sports anime, I guess the first season of Prince of Tennis had a lot of fillers. xD Some of them are unrelated to the main plot like "Prince of Bowling" and the "TeniPuri family". They're quite entertaining to watch, though... However, some continue from the main plot but are quite unnecessary. I skipped some of them when I watched it the second time. lol I just want to watch the matches soooooon!!!!
Anyway, these fillers are more common in shonen anime like Naruto... xD
Bleach is the first one that comes to my mind. So many unnecessary subplots that completely stoles the spotlight from the main story line. Those subplots don't add anything important to the main story, being just a simple (and annoying) filler
P. S. I still like the main story tho
Fairy Tail immediately came to my mind... I'm really a fan of this anime but there are times that I find the subplots repetitive and maybe a little unnecessary. I really thought that it would end the time Zeref got defeated, but it turns out their adventure never ends until they die (which was fine for me tho). However, reusing the subplot of having another Fairy Tail in another place in their universe felt kinda off for me... Like ok, there's that Edolas who are totally opposite to the Earthland Fairy Tail, but then another one emerged later—the Fairynail which was a celebrity guild. It's funny seeing another version of them, but was it really necessary? I get the Edolas part because there's Mystogan and the lacrima that's part of the main plot..but Fairy Nail? I dunno.

Although I love Tokyo Ghoul, I must say that Tokyo Ghoul:Re was too much haha the end of the first part was epic and as one would expect such a complex plot to end, but well, the happy ending was expected for most people, although I consider that the way it ended was something original and out of the traditional 👌
@theanimerealm Can I choose an anime that hasn't ended yet? There are 4 episodes left until the end of DB daima xD. If anything, justifying it won't be a problem. The episodes so far have ruined this anime.
Initially I wanted to give DB Daim, but internally I felt that I was in a better position. As it turned out after 24 hours, I had cards in my deck that were like Jokers in this category. Especially one of them - Gungrave.
It is an adaptation of the game, or more specifically - a prequel and an adaptation of the game. This is one of the few examples where a prequel, or addition to a story, crushes the original. The game is a simple action title like many others - even if it is really good, the overwhelming majority of "only good titles" are not remembered by the general public. The better ones also do not have such a guarantee, but due to less competition, it is easier to find them.
Anime is different. This is a great, brutal story about the mafia operating in the near future. Very good characters, intense action, the plot from a certain point is so intriguing that we absorb episode after episode. Then there's the finale, this one is absolutely mind-blowing! Just as athletic thighs crush watermelons, the finale twists us like a floor rag. Every friend to whom I recommended Gungrave was delighted with this moment and the general moral of the anime.
And then a plot known from games appears, which at best should be heavily modified or, preferably, simply thrown into the trash. Why? Because it spoils EVERYTHING! I won't give any spoilers because maybe I'll encourage someone to watch it. If I encourage you, please tag me in this post because I want to experience these emotions again.
Tl;dr version - up to this point, Gungrave is a gourmet meal that consists of 3 courses. We are satisfied, full, and then we get dessert. Not only is it the cheapest ice cream, but it is half melted.
It would be for Yowamushi Pedal, because at the beginning it focuses a lot on the protagonist but as time goes by there are cycling races that I feel are not necessary to show or parts of stories because they make the main character lose prominence is because more than 1 continuous chapter leaves the protagonist aside
Seems I missed this
This has to be Bleach. I'm a top fan of bleach. Infact it's part of my top 5 animes and it's not number 5 or 4. But what I'd always accept of confess or give up in arguing is the amount of fillers that bleach has. My goodness, they are A LOT! I mean I hope there's noone like me out there they didn't bother to check out the filler episodes and filter them out before watching. I was so exhausted at one point but I genuinely loved the show and I didn't want to start skipping the fillers since I had already started. It was genuinely exhausting.
Reading this quest and the first anime that comes to my mind is one piece. As intriguing as the anime is, having over a thousand episode always discourages people from getting into.
I for one started watching at episode 502 and had to restart after I caught up with the latest episode. There are so many filler episodes that don't even contribute the plot at all and the mangaka would have just spared us those extra episodes. Point blank I don't even see what the hype is all about and to me personally I just tolerate it.
