Alright! If you’ve read the warning, then you should know what this is about! It’s about you possibly missing out on To Be Hero X!!! A superhero animated show about, well, superheroes! I absolutely recommend, no! I’m telling you to watch the entire series now! It’s free on YouTube, the whole Season 1, from the time of this post, the last episode of the 1st season had already aired from September 21st. Really, don’t miss out on this amazing show!
The plot of To Be Hero X, naturally is about an entire cast of heroes, each with different origin stories of how they ended up becoming the supers that they will be; An underdog, a zero to hero, a maximum Rizz Lord, cults, wannabe childhood dream come true, Nepotism(hehehe😁not kidding!) and many more, but it comes with a dark theme and twists, I won’t say more on that since it’s one of the charms that gripped me into watching and waiting for more, you guys will have to experience the suspense yourself.
Just take note that the events of Season 1 can be a little confusing because it is supposed to be the background and exposition for all the main characters, the heroes, their path to herohood and motivations that lead them to compete in, To Be Hero X! In other words, the first season is a set up for the real clash! Season 2! Where it will all truly begin.
Get ready for the kind of jam that pumps your mind and body into action! As a taster, the song [INERTIA] by SawanoHiroyuki[nZk]:Rei, is here! Yes! Another well-known work of the famous Japanese musician, to all anime watchers you should know how awesome all his songs are and how much they spice the coolness when they play! Of course there are others that aren’t as adrenaline pumping, most are for matching the theme of the kind of hero for each character, but the rest of the action songs especially in fights and emotional scenes are also up to par with SawanoHiroyuki’s work!
To Be Hero X has it’s animation style constantly shifting and blending between 2D and 3D, quite an interesting and new blend of animating that adds up to the special effects and atmosphere of combat and story perspective, this is heavily used on a certain character as a display on how their powers work, which is OP!
The 3D adds a more serious and dark vibe, while the 2D gives way for a more lighter scene, the former always gets used whenever the dark themes of the story are explored. Overall it is quite amazing, albeit it felt still experimental and needs polishing.
This portion will be brief as I prefer you guys check out and see the characters for yourselves, again, all of them have different starting points and paths how they’ve reached their status as a hero, it will also follow some tropes, but the suspense and anticipation of the dark twists, if you’ve managed to finish the first 4 episodes will always make your mind itch to see how bad things could go for them, as sad and tragic as it is.
Since this post is mainly trying to get attention for To Be Hero X, another very unique and interesting thing about this is that us, the audience can actually have an influence on the show! I’m not entirely sure as to what extent, but we do the power to make the power rankings of the Heroes change. This is possible because of the way the power system functions in the lore is that heroes gain their power through ‘Trust’, which is sort of like a vote of favorability, you get it? This interesting gimmick allows us to change which hero is the strongest to weakest as canon in story, which of course can change the course of the storyline.
You can do this by voting on Bilibili, the official website of the studio co-producing To Be Hero X, if you have an account you can keep voting repeatedly for one or more heroes of your choice, the rankings on the website will be shown of how many votes did other people give for certain characters and what place they are on the powerscale, 1 being the strongest of them all. So what are you waiting for? If you want to make a change then go ahead and make an account to participate and vote!
Just to give a heads up, the animation’s language is Chinese as that’s where this show originated, then it was collaborated with Aniplex, so all the dialogue will be naturally different and you have to rely on reading the subtitles to understand what anyone is saying or what’s happening, but you don’t need to worry, I may not speak or understand Chinese, but I’ve watched the show of course, so I can at least guarantee that the translations definitely match up to what the characters are saying and the story, no confusion for me, still I can understand if that’s a hassle, but it will be worth it.
Just a little info dump, To Be Hero X is a Chinese animation collaboration project that is co-produced by Aniplex and Bilibili. For most anime fans, the former animation studio is already familiar due to many amazing works they’ve produced such the Fate Series, FGO, Demon Slayer, FMA, Blue Exorcist and etc., but the latter, Bilibili is mainly for animes, cartoons and shows that originated from China, which have slowly gained more presence in recent years, many of their works can be both viewed on their official website and YouTube.
