Greetings Earthlings!
Welcome to another installment of this sketchbook tour. In todays episode we have a naughty word, some poetry, and an red ink catastrophe.

I drew this at a psytrance festival I attended. 'Fish and Bread' is a reggae/dub soundsystem crew. They set up their megalithic speaker stack right by a beautiful lake in the festival zone. It was the perfect spot for day time chilling or to get some respite from the relentless thumping electronic bass (which I also love). I was hanging out there one day and listening to some beautiful soulful reggae. I made a somewhat successful attempt at life drawing the soundsystem. Everything else is doodled.

This is an interesting one. I let a graffiti artist acquaintance of mine tag in the book to begin a collaborative piece. I spruced up his tags, and was quite happy with the result. The dude unfortunately ended up disrespecting me in a pretty silly way which made me feel uncomfortable with having his alias represented in my book, hence the bit of torn out paper glued over the top.
The other notable thing here is the dark red ink which bleed over into the previous and following spreads. Pretty annoying but oh well!

Just some doodles. Having fun with lines and dots.

I'm from New Zealand. This is a word that some of us use pretty frequently. I appologise to anyone who is offended by its inclusion here. I was considering leaving it out but decided on staying committed in my pursuit of sharing every single page from this sketchbook.
We actually use this word so often that it's lost it's negative charge. In fact, it will come as a surprise to some but between close friends it can even be a term of appreciation and endearment. I.e. Cheers for helping out with the landscaping today bro, you're a bloody good c*nt.

I wrote this while exploring the wild West Australian bush during a two week trip. It was a potent moment. I've typed it out just incase my handwriting is illegible:
wet eyes honour this rising sun
heart digs its roots into well trodden earth
a whisper of the timeless pervades every rustle
the squeaky croaky bush is effortless music, age old rhythm
the sky winks, cheeky bugger knows something
hints at an ancient knowledge, real and right
this, mate, it's all about
cherishing the day, absorbing the perfect isness of nature
breathing full and deep, finding the bush self
an inner eco smirk, perpetually chuffed, forever still
and that sun keeps ascending, greeting us
the land rejoices in glorious divine light
heart, strongly tethered, is glad and alive
I shake of the hypnotism
thoughts turn again to my insignificant self
and with lingering satisfaction
I return inside for coffee, and the day, the sacred day
Thanks!
