" What don't you remember?"
Hello, hivers.
Some time ago I started to create a series of pieces belonging to a collection called "The Unremembered".
Those who know my work know that my language develops between memory and imagination. For me, memory is something mysterious, chaotic and changing; and so it is what we don't remember.
The Unremembered is about what we forget and how we experience forgetting: not as something lost, but as something covered with a blinding veil.
We know something existed, but we don't know what it was. This is how we know that we have forgotten: because we try to remember.
I started this collection after going through recent photographs, and thinking about what was in them that I couldn't remember.
The pieces have surreal elements: Those parts of our memories that manifest themselves from our imagination.
While working on these, I deliberately avoided adding too many details (which was very difficult for me) because I wanted to emulate the way real memories are.
The Fishermen is my first piece of this collection, and I thought that painting a self portrait it would be a good start.

Hola hivers.
Hace un tiempo comencé a crear una serie de piezas para a una colección llamada "The Unremembered".
Quienes conocen mi obra saben que mi lenguaje se desarrolla entre la memoria y la imaginación. Para mí la memoria es algo misterioso, caótico y cambiante; y así es lo que no recordamos.
"The Unremembered" trata sobre lo que olvidamos y cómo experimentamos el olvido: no como algo perdido, sino como algo cubierto con un velo cegador.
Sabemos que algo existió, pero no sabemos qué era. Así es como sabemos que hemos olvidado: porque tratamos de recordar.
Comencé esta colección después de revisar fotografías recientes y pensar en lo que había en ellas que no podía recordar.
Las piezas tienen elementos surrealistas: Esas partes de nuestros recuerdos que se manifiestan desde nuestra imaginación.
Mientras trabajaba en estos, deliberadamente evité agregar demasiados detalles (lo cual fue muy difícil para mí) porque quería emular la forma en que son los recuerdos reales.
The Fishermen es mi primera pieza de esta colección, y pensé que pintar un autorretrato sería un buen comienzo.

En efecto, la mente funciona de manera misteriosa, en lo que respecta a la memoria, podemos desbloquear recuerdos de distintas maneras y a través de los sentidos, algo tan simple como un olor, una melodía o un sabor pueden transportarnos a momentos sin regreso. Realmente me gusta el concepto de esta colección, espero ver pronto más piezas.
