This is Crocoberry. A fantasy creature I have painted using watercolor. Crocoberry is when aligator meets duck meets dreams. He wants to surf around the world on a piece of watermelon serving as a surfing board. He has plenty of food supply as strawberries constantly grow on top of his head. Sometimes he feeds on stars, as they drop from the sky drawn to the alluring watermelon. Sounds crazy? Well, anything is possible in fantasy world! He loves the nighttime at the sea, as he can be with the Moon and the stars.
I started with a simple pencil drawing, trying to grasp the feeling of how I wanted this funny aligator to look like. I was not decided on colour yet.
The details were done with an Isograph 0.1 mm from Rotring using black ink. For watercolor I used Faber Castell.
I wanted the colors to look super vibrant, almost done with the marker vibe, in order to match with the crazy personality of our Hawaiian Superstar.
I had lots of fun painting this out of my imagination. Sometimes it is interesting to go out of the comfort zone as an artist and try to paint a different style. This is my first time drawing a fantasy funny creature.
He is absolutely awesome! Love it!
Thank you🤗
This is absolutely stunning work of art, I can't help but fall in love with it at first glance.

Oh thank you very much🤗
You should write a children book. They would love the idea of this character and definitely love your colorful artwork
Hmm that is a very good idea! I had this thought years ago, I would love to dip my toes in a new style of creating art. I will keep this idea, it is great! Thank you🤗
I love it! I also like to see that you still go for analog art too.
I can't help but wonder if there's now a battle between analog and digital art
going on in your head or do you just follow your intuition?
Sending you a hug :<)
Hey my dear Vincent🤗 Ahh you have good intuition, there was a battle after I purchased the Ipad. After seeing how addictive it can become I have consciously chosen to make time for traditional art. Digital is great, but analog is my first love. So yes for me it was a battle until I took a conscious decision to achieve balance. Nothing extreme is too good.
I follow my intuition and create what comes to mind. I want to just see what I can accomplish with my native talent in drawing. I feel I have a lot to grow as there are many styles I have not tried. It is a sort of competition with myself, to see how much I can expand and experiment.
Hugs🤗
Haha! I like to think that my intuiton is pretty strong but, also, I can really relate to this constant battle between digital and analog ( especially when it comes to art ) but, also, to life in general, even more having grown up in the 80s, with hardly any screens, aside from a TV with 3 channels and with a mom who heavily restriced our screen time, up till the late 90s/ end of high school. I sure understand her now. It also might have lead to me studying film and watching thousands of movies, like crazy ( making up for lack of screen time ) later on. On the flipside, I also read thousands of books, as a kid.
Looking forward to your future art
xx
Oh restricted screen time. That sounds familiar. I remember a very limited amount of programs on Tv. Oh this sounds so oldschool lol. There were some interesting cartoons though and later in my teens I was devouring VHS and Animal Planet and Discovery Channel.
You were a smart kid to read all of those books. And watch so many movies. I think it has helped with creativity a lot.
Now we have become our own inner parents and limit our screen time🤣 We have to, otherwise we would lose the connection with ourselves. It is very easy to lose focus on what matters when it is so much tasty mental junk food around lol. This is why I remain firm in my self discipline.
Have a beautiful day Vincent🤗
You are so good..and the crocodile became too cute hehe..
