Que nada más de verla me atrapó con su simplificada composición, y la actitud de protesta del corpulento discípulo de Napoleón, cacareando su incomodidad al horizonte.

Well, you may or may not believe this story! But it is true that for the fable and the drawing I was inspired by that simple letter of the angry cockerel. The very first sight of it caught me with its simplified composition, and the protesting attitude of Napoleon's corpulent disciple, cackling his discomfort at the horizon.

Para realizar el paso a paso del dibujo, tome una pequeña cartulina del blog de dibujo, y un bolígrafo tipo comercial desechable, de tinta negra, al cual últimamente me he habituado para hacer este tipo de trabajo.

To make the step by step drawing, I took a small piece of cardboard from the drawing blog, and a disposable commercial biros, black ink, which I have recently become accustomed to for this type of work.

El dibujo de referencia prácticamente tiene el dominio del blanco en el cuerpo del animal representado y el negro en las líneas de contorno, amplias zonas de gris para ubicar las sombras y un alto contraste con el fondo.

Allí los colores son planos, o sea, sin transiciones entre las luces y las sombras.

The reference drawing is practically dominated by white in the body of the animal depicted and black in the contour lines, large areas of grey to place the shadows and a high contrast with the background.

There the colours are flat, that is, without transitions between light and shadow.

Yo he querido ir un poquito más allá y he introducido un poco de claroscuro para dar más sensación de volumen y un poquito de realidad a la escena.

Para eso utilicé el cruce de líneas en unos lugares, y el trazado diagonal con superposición de las líneas para lograr los distintos valores en las áreas.

I wanted to go a bit further and introduced a bit of chiaroscuro to give more sense of volume and a bit of reality to the scene.

For that I used the crossing of lines in some places, and the diagonal tracing with overlapping of the lines to achieve the different values in the areas.

El valor más bajo está disperso por todo el plano, pero sobre todo en la cresta del ave y lo que se supone sea el pantalón, que junto a la camiseta, introduje como elementos expresivos para acentuar el discurso.

En ese entorno también adicioné la cadena con el medallón, una alusion al celular, la anilla en la pata derecha y una billetera en el bolsillo derecho.

The lower value is scattered all over the plane, but above all in the bird's crest and what is supposed to be the trousers, which, together with the T-shirt, I introduced as expressive elements to accentuate the discourse.

In this environment I also added the chain with the medallion, an allusion to the mobile phone, the ring on the right leg and a wallet in the right pocket.

Para acentuar el drama de la escena, introduje el nido con los huevos, la alusión a la gallina en retirada y la atmósfera campestre en el fondo.
