The Nine are doomed.
A stitch in time would have saved them.
But the Needle Harpies would have none of that, and swooped down upon the precious thread.
In the moment before they vanished into the dark matter of nether space with their stolen cargo, the above snapshot was taken -- of the youngest, first because of her small size and thus greater speed, her scissor-like beak still open after her cutting of the thread; of the middle sister, defiantly gazing into the camera, showing the longer, wider open beak with which she had raveled the thread up and tossed it into the air for all of them to bear up; of the eldest sister, her long beak shut firmly upon the thread that also wraps around her body ... a secure hold to also secure her baby daughter, whose beak is thrust into the thread itself as she hangs on tightly.
Thus the Nine are doomed, unless the rumors that some woman named Madeleine L'Engle has worked this out in a book are true...
The Needle Harpies are a fractal that I designed today in Apophysis

Thank you!
This really does like like some kind of alien harpy. Also reminds me a bit of a mosquito :) Really cool!
Thank you... Yeah, somewhere between a mosquito and Greek mythology and madness ... wait until you meet the creatures I've got coming along later today...
Funny, I am about to start reading book by Madeleine L'Engle! I haven't read one of hers for years.
Enjoy!
