The world has changed. You don't have to be a geopolitical genius to realize that things are very different this year. Politics always takes center stage: wars everywhere—Israel, Palestine, Russia, Ukraine, Venezuela, and a long list of others. China is getting stronger, Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies have been devalued, and I haven't felt this uncertain since the pandemic. In the novel 1984, Big Brother, the world was divided into three superpowers: Oceania, Eurasia, and Eastasia. There was a fierce struggle between them as they fought over small territories on the peripheries of their domains. Today, it seems to me that this prophecy has been fulfilled. We have three powerful nations deciding the fate of the world, and the European Union has been relegated to nothing more than an organization for absurd discussions, much like the United Nations. From this recipe for disaster, the following illustration has emerged in me: Donald Trump as "freedom" imparting his worldview by force. One of the slogans of the ruling party in Oceania (1984) was "War is peace," and here I have represented this idea with contemporary nuances, using the power of money as a collage and a silhouette of the most powerful man in the world.
El mundo ha cambiado, no hay que ser un genio en Geopolítica para darse cuenta de que las cosas son muy diferentes este años. La política siempre lleva la delantera en los asuntos: guerras por todas partes, Israel, Palestina, Rusia, Ucrania, Venezuela y una larga lista. China cada vez se hace más fuerte, el BTC y las criptomonedas han sido derribadas, desde los tiempos de la pandemia no me sentía con tanta incertidumbre. En la novela 1984 El Gran Hermano, el mundo se dividía en 3 super estados, Oceanía, Eurasia y Estasia, había una lucha encarnizada entre ellos donde se disputaban territorios pequeños en las periferias de sus dominios. Hoy me parece que esa profecía esta cumplida, tenemos 3 naciones poderosas decidiendo el destino del mundo, la Unión Europea ha quedado relegada a nada más que una organización de discusiones absurdas igual que las Naciones Unidas. De todo esta receta del desastre ha surgido en mi la siguiente ilustración, Donald Trump como la "libertad" impartiendo su visión del mundo por la fuerza, uno de los lemas del partido gobernante en Oceania (1984) era "La guerra es la paz" y aquí he representado esta idea con matices contemporáneos, usando el poder del dinero como collage y una silueta del hombre más poderoso del mundo.

To do this project, I decided to print some dollar bills. I wanted the background to clearly represent the power of capitalism. I printed the bills on cardstock and then began to draw the silhouette of the Statue of Liberty on top of it.
Para hacer este trabajo se me ocurrió imprimir unos dolares, quería hacer que el fondo se viera todo el poder del capitalismo bien representado. Imprimí los dolares en cartulina opalina y sobre ella comencé a hacer la silueta de la estatua de la Libertad.

After making the almost complete silhouette of the Statue of Liberty, I started painting the entire area inside with white paint to cover everything that could be seen from the background inside the silhouette, especially the face of George Washington.
Luego de hacer la silueta casi completa de la estatua de la libertad, me puse a pintar en el interior toda esa zona con pintura blanca para así tapar todo lo que dentro de la silueta se veía del fondo, especialmente el rostro de George Washington.

After letting all the paint dry, I began to shape the interior of the drawing with a pencil. I shaped the arm, which instead of a torch is holding an AR-15 rifle, and the enormous robe covering the Statue of Liberty. Then I began to shape Donald Trump's face.
Seguidamente al dejar secar toda la pintura, con un lápiz comencé a darle forma a todo el interior del dibujo, es decir, que le di forma al brazo, el cual en lugar de antorcha esta sosteniendo un fusil AR-15 y así la enorme vestidura que cubre a la estatua de la Libertad. Luego le fui dando forma al rostro de Donald Trump.

Now, to give shape to this illustration, I use a pen to outline all the contours. I start at the top, which would be the rifle, and then I work my way down the arm, adding shadows. As for the dress, I add depth with very pronounced shadows.
Ahora, para darle forma a esta ilustración utilizo un bolígrafo para delinear todos los contornos. Comienzo por la parte superior que sería el fusil y así voy bajando por el brazo donde voy haciendo las sombras y en cuanto al vestido voy agegrando todo el relieve con sombras muy pronunciadas.

Next up was sculpting Donald Trump's face. It's nothing personal; in fact, I like him, even though he sometimes acts like a jerk. I gave him a decidedly unfriendly expression.
Luego toca el turno de esculpir el rostro de Donald Trump, no es nada personal, de hecho me agrada aunque a veces se comporte como un cretino. Lo hice con una expresión nada amigable.

Finally, with the bottom part of the drawing, I didn't want to cover up the words "One Dollar" so that it would be the base of the whole drawing.
Finalizando entonces con la parte inferior del dibujo, no quise tapar las palabras de One Dollar para que fuera la base de todo el dibujo.
This week I heard the news that they want to carve Donald Trump's face into Mount Rushmore. Well, this one turned out better, hehe. What do you think of this illustration? Or rather, what do you think of the world? I'd like to know your opinion. This is the way I like to learn.
Esta semana supe la noticia de que quieren tallar el rostro de Donald Trump en el Monte Rushmore, bueno, este ha quedado mejor jejeje. ¿Qué les ha parecido esta ilustración? o mejor dicho, ¿Qué opinan del mundo? me gustaría saber su opinión. Es así en la forma que me gusta aprender.
