For this project, my lion was not supposed to look young but rather old, and at the same time powerful. I imagined that, who has been a warrior all his life, would reach old age as someone physically and mentally strong.
Therefore I imagined him in a meditation-like pose in a forest or outdoor area.
Para este trabajo, mi león no se debía verse joven sino más bien anciano, y al mismo tiempo poderoso. Imaginé que, quien ha sido un guerrero toda su vida, llegaría a la vejez como alguien fuerte física y mentalmente.
Por lo tanto lo recreé en una pose como de meditación en un bosque o área al aire libre.

Poco a poco comencé a agregarle los detalles utilizando diferentes pinceles, algunos propios y otros, que te dejo por acá el LINK , son de una youtuber MCGirlDraw que compartió sus pinceles para todos los que quisieran usarlos.
I thought about making the image horizontal, but my main subject is the lion, and I didn't want the environment to suddenly overshadow it, so I decided to crop and adjust the format to vertical which gives the lion more protagonism.
As it is recurrent in my work, the use of some fantasy effects, this was not going to be different, so I added small bright lights behind the lion, plus a kind of meteor shower.
Pensé en hacer la imagen horizontal, pero mi sujeto principal es el león, y no quería que el entorno de pronto lo opacara, así que decidí recortar y ajustar el formato a vertical que le otorga mayor protagonismo al león.
Como es recurrente en mi trabajo, el uso de algunos efectos de fantasía, este no iba a ser diferente, así que agregué pequeñas luces brillantes detrás del león, además de como una especia de lluvia de meteoritos.
A detail that I failed to say above, is the symbol that appears on the forehead of our lion, and is that this lion is strong and independent but also social, something unites him with others, and it is that diamond-shaped mark that manifests it.
Un detalle que me faltó decir más arriba, es el símbolo que aparece en la frente de nuestro león, y es que este león es fuerte e independiente pero también social, algo lo une con otros, y es esa marca con forma de rombo o diamante la que lo manifiesta.
With the drawing practically done, I only had to make some adjustments related to the color. Below is the color palette I used.
The dark environment is intended to highlight the main subject and his magical powers, hence I decided to use cold tones that suit a forest scene at night.
Ya con el dibujo prácticamente hecho solo me quedaron algunos ajustes relacionados con el color. Más abajo te dejo la paleta de colores que usé.
El entorno oscuro, tiene como objetivo resaltar al sujeto principal y sus poderes mágicos, de ahí que me decidiera por tonos fríos que se avienen a un escenario de un bosque en la noche.
Some final adjustments regarding sharpness, color intensity and a little more in Photoshop Camera Raw and that's it... we have our old, warrior, wise and proud Lion.
Algunos ajustes finales con respecto a la nitidez. la intensidad del color y poco más en Camera Raw de Photoshop y listo... tenemos nuestro León anciano, guerrero, sabio y orgulloso.

I have to admit that I am really enjoying this adventure. It is forcing me to cross limits that I thought I had, and that is something I love to do, because our mind sometimes plays tricks on us telling you that you can NOT do a certain thing and yet with study and practice you achieve it. So if you have seen yourself represented in my words, I can only say, keep trying!
Tengo que reconocer que esta aventura me está gustando muchísimo. Está forzándome a cruzar límites que creía tener, y eso es algo que me encanta hacer, pues nuestra mente a veces nos juega malas pasadas diciéndote que NO puedes hacer determinada cosa y sin embargo a base de estudio y práctica lo logras. Asi que si te haz visto representado en mis palabras, solo me queda decir, sigue intentándolo!

Hola amiga, que grandioso ese trabajo que nos compartes, lleno de mucho talento, precisión y sobre todo esa historia que está detrás de ese león. Me gusto la manera como involucras y vas colocando cada detalle en la ilustración de una manera tan increíble, para así darle ese toque único y muy llamativo a ese león, que cuenta con un gran camino y ha llegado el momento de descansar. Todo habilidad lleva su práctica y dedicación, sin duda muchas felicidades por todo eso amiga.
