Hello to all digital art lovers! I'm Lorentm, a digital artist excited to be here sharing with you one of my latest creations. On this occasion, I wanted to pay tribute to an unforgettable musical icon: Freddie Mercury!
As many of you know, The Simpsons is an animated series that has marked several generations, and I decided to merge its characteristic style with the unique essence of Freddie Mercury. I must confess that it was quite a challenge to make the drawing capture the essence and charisma of the legendary singer, but with passion and dedication, I think I have achieved a result that I am proud to share.
Freddie Mercury was an exceptional artist, whose voice, stage presence and charisma transcended cultural and generational barriers. To capture his iconic face and expressions in the Simpsons style was an exciting and enriching challenge. I hope you enjoy watching my interpretation as much as I enjoyed creating it.

Freddie Mercury, original name Farrokh Bulsara, (born September 5, 1946, Stone Town, Zanzibar [now in Tanzania]—died November 24, 1991, Kensington, London, England), British rock singer and songwriter whose flamboyant showmanship and powerfully agile vocals, most famously for the band Queen, made him one of rock’s most dynamic front men.
Freddie Mercury, de nombre original Farrokh Bulsara, (nacido el 5 de septiembre de 1946 en Stone Town, Zanzíbar [actualmente en Tanzania]-muerto el 24 de noviembre de 1991 en Kensington, Londres, Inglaterra), cantante y compositor británico de rock cuyo extravagante espectáculo y poderosa agilidad vocal, sobre todo en el grupo Queen, le convirtieron en uno de los líderes más dinámicos del rock.
Process / Proceso
It all starts with the spark of inspiration. Deciding that I wanted to pay tribute to Freddie Mercury, I spent some time researching and collecting iconic images of the singer in different poses and expressions. I wanted to capture his essence and distinctive personality in the drawing. Once I had enough visual reference, I started sketching, trying out different compositions and positions for the character.
Once I was satisfied with the sketch, I created a new layer to work on the sketch. Using the line tool, I began to trace the contours of the drawing with clean, smooth lines, following the shapes and details of the original sketch. This allowed me to get a clearer and more defined version of the image.
Once I had the outlines ready, I created another layer underneath to block out the main colors. To stay true to the Simpsons style, I opted for flat, bright colors. I used a color palette that matched the aesthetic of the animated series while highlighting Freddie Mercury's distinctive features.
The next step was to add important details to Freddie's face and clothing. The Simpsons are known for their large, expressive eyes, so I made sure Freddie's eyes were captivating. I also focused on capturing his iconic smile and distinctive mustache.
Then, I added shadows and highlights to give the drawing depth and realism. The soft shadows and subtle highlights brought the character to life and gave him a more three-dimensional look.
To add a touch of authenticity, I added subtle shimmers in certain areas, such as the skin and clothing, to give it a more organic and unique feel. I also fine-tuned the final details, such as small facial features and wrinkles in the clothing.
When I was satisfied with the final result, I added my discreet signature in one corner of the drawing. Then, I reviewed the entire design to make sure everything was in place and ready to be shared with the world.
And that's how my Freddie Mercury Simpsons-style drawing was born! I hope this process has given you an idea of the dedication and love I put into each of my creations. Todo comienza con la chispa de inspiración. Al decidir que quería rendir homenaje a Freddie Mercury, pasé un tiempo investigando y recopilando imágenes icónicas del cantante en diferentes poses y expresiones. Quería capturar su esencia y personalidad distintiva en el dibujo. Una vez que tuve suficiente referencia visual, comencé a hacer bocetos, probando diferentes composiciones y posiciones para el personaje.
Una vez que estuve satisfecha con el boceto, creé una nueva capa para trabajar sobre el boceto. Usando la herramienta de línea, comencé a trazar los contornos del dibujo con líneas limpias y suaves, siguiendo las formas y detalles del boceto original. Esto me permitió obtener una versión más clara y definida de la imagen.
Una vez que tuve los contornos listos, creé otra capa debajo para bloquear los colores principales. Para mantenerme fiel al estilo de los Simpson, opté por colores planos y brillantes. Utilicé una paleta de colores que encajara con la estética de la serie animada y, a su vez, destacara los rasgos característicos de Freddie Mercury.
El siguiente paso fue agregar detalles importantes al rostro y ropa de Freddie. Los Simpson son conocidos por sus ojos grandes y expresivos, así que aseguré que los ojos de Freddie fueran cautivadores. También me enfoqué en capturar su icónica sonrisa y bigote distintivo.
Luego, agregué sombras y luces para darle profundidad y realismo al dibujo. Las sombras suaves y los reflejos sutiles hicieron que el personaje cobrara vida y le dieron un aspecto más tridimensional.
