Strength vs Serenity

In this new entry, welcome once again to my art blog! I’m Lorentm, a passionate digital artist who loves transforming trending content into anime-style fan art. This time, I was inspired by a viral TikTok video that caught my attention not only for its humor but for the emotional contrast it portrayed. The scene? A tense stare-down between two dogs: a fierce Doberman and a serene, fluffy dog whose calm demeanor stole the show.

The moment I saw this video, I felt a spark. I knew I had to draw it. The intense energy of the Doberman clashing against the soft, almost amused look of the fluffy dog created such a compelling dynamic. Translating that into an anime aesthetic was a beautiful challenge. The Doberman, sleek and angular, radiates power. His sharp lines and pointed ears make him a perfect symbol of raw force. On the other hand, the fluffy dog is a picture of tranquility, with gentle eyes and a relaxed smile that exudes peaceful defiance. I wanted that contrast—Force versus Serenity—to be the central theme of this piece.

En esta nueva entrada, ¡te doy la bienvenida nuevamente a mi blog de arte! Soy Lorentm, una artista digital apasionada por transformar contenido viral en fan art con estética anime. Esta vez me dejé llevar por un video de TikTok que no solo me hizo reír, sino que me emocionó por el contraste emocional que transmitía. La escena: un enfrentamiento visual entre dos perros, uno un imponente Doberman y el otro, un perro esponjoso con una calma que lo convertía en el verdadero protagonista.

En cuanto vi ese video, supe que tenía que ilustrarlo. La energía del Doberman, tan intensa, frente a la mirada apacible y ligeramente divertida del perro peludo generaba una tensión fascinante. Llevar esa dinámica al estilo anime fue un reto hermoso. El Doberman, con sus líneas marcadas y orejas puntiagudas, representa la fuerza pura. Mientras que el perro esponjoso transmite serenidad con sus ojos dulces y su sonrisa relajada, casi desafiando con ternura. Quise que ese contraste—Fuerza versus Serenidad—fuera el eje principal de esta obra.

These characters come straight from the emotions they evoke in the video. The Doberman represents alertness and aggression, often seen as the protector or enforcer. In contrast, the fluffy dog—possibly a Border Collie or Australian Shepherd—embodies calm confidence. He doesn’t need to bark or growl; his serenity is powerful enough to create balance. Both figures are exaggerated through the anime lens: sharper expressions, large expressive eyes, and a color palette that emphasizes their emotional states.

Estos personajes nacen directamente de las emociones que transmiten en el video. El Doberman representa la alerta, la agresividad, ese rol de protector o guardián. En cambio, el perro esponjoso—que parece un Border Collie o un Pastor Australiano—encarna una confianza tranquila. No necesita ladrar ni mostrar los dientes; su serenidad tiene un peso suficiente como para equilibrar la escena. Ambos están exagerados en su versión anime: expresiones marcadas, ojos grandes y expresivos, y una paleta de colores que realza sus emociones.

Process / Proceso

I began with a loose sketch to place both characters and their emotional tension on the canvas. I paid special attention to posture and facial expression. The Doberman needed to lean forward, like a flame ready to ignite, while the fluffy dog had to remain slightly tilted, calm and composed, with a soft smirk. The sketch helped me frame the story before moving forward.

Empecé con un boceto suelto para ubicar a ambos personajes y plasmar la tensión emocional sobre el lienzo. Presté mucha atención a la postura y las expresiones faciales. El Doberman debía inclinarse hacia adelante, como una chispa a punto de estallar, mientras que el perro esponjoso debía estar ligeramente ladeado, tranquilo y con una leve sonrisa confiada. El boceto me permitió construir la narrativa visual antes de avanzar.

Once satisfied, I moved on to inking the lineart. I used dynamic, clean strokes to define the Doberman’s sharp silhouette, while the fluffy dog received softer, rounder lines to enhance his gentle nature. This contrast in the inking process was crucial to emphasize their opposing energies.

Una vez que estuve satisfecha con el boceto, pasé al delineado. Usé trazos dinámicos y limpios para definir la silueta aguda del Doberman, mientras que al perro esponjoso le di líneas más suaves y redondeadas que resaltaran su carácter apacible. Este contraste en el delineado fue esencial para acentuar la energía opuesta de ambos.

Then came the coloring stage. I selected a warm palette for both characters but gave the Doberman more saturated reds and deep browns to emphasize his intensity. For the fluffy dog, I chose softer hues like creamy whites and muted oranges to evoke warmth and serenity.

Luego llegó la etapa del color. Elegí una paleta cálida para ambos personajes, pero al Doberman le asigné rojos saturados y marrones oscuros que acentuaran su intensidad. Para el perro esponjoso usé tonos más suaves, como blancos cremosos y naranjas tenues, que evocaran calidez y serenidad.

Shading added depth. I used more angular, harsh shadows on the Doberman to enhance his dramatic presence. For the fluffy dog, I used soft gradients and subtle transitions to keep his look peaceful and lighthearted.

Las sombras aportaron profundidad. Apliqué sombras angulares y marcadas en el Doberman para potenciar su presencia dramática. En cambio, al perro esponjoso le di degradados suaves y transiciones sutiles, manteniendo su aspecto pacífico y amigable.

Highlights were a joy to apply. I used glowing edges, especially on the fur, to add a slight magical feel—like both dogs were caught under a golden spotlight. The reflections in their eyes helped tell the story: one intense, the other amused.

Aplicar los brillos fue un verdadero deleite. Usé bordes iluminados, especialmente en el pelaje, para añadir un ligero toque mágico—como si ambos estuvieran bajo un foco dorado. Los reflejos en sus ojos contaron el resto de la historia: uno con intensidad, el otro con diversión.

Finally, I painted the background. A wall of textured stone gave the scene a rustic, grounded feel. The lighting came from a warm source to unify the whole piece, reinforcing the heat of confrontation and the calm that diffuses it.

Finalmente, pinté el fondo. Un muro de piedra texturizada aportó un toque rústico y firme a la escena. La iluminación cálida unificó toda la composición, reforzando tanto el calor del enfrentamiento como la serenidad que lo disuelve.

Creating this fan art was an emotional ride. I loved playing with the contrast between energy and calm, strength and peace.
