There lives a few among us, who may recall a time long past, where books played a more pivotal role in our daily lives. Frequenting physical libraries (fine literature abounding), we chose to feed ourselves intellectually, spiritually and emotionally, within the depths of their treasured pages. Wide-eyed, we’d soar silently through the corridors, simultaneously scanning shelves with the utmost precision. Like an owl swiftly moving in on its target, we’d do the same, sampling.. in complete awe of what we had found!
Sure, a stunning element of adventure now be readily lacking, but the present too is befitting of its own wonder. Intellectuals knowing how best to use the resources available to them, still have the opportunity to experience some of what has now been lost. In fact, a possibility now exists, to delve deeper into more written material, than we could ever have previously hoped for.
For what other purpose of any good writing be there, other than to delve into its depths? An open book offers us a temporary reprieve from a troubled reality, the opportunity to travel the world through, a chance to share knowledge with those like-minded, a way to learn valuable new skills and so save lives. It has the potential to feed ones burning desire to grow religiously. Then of course, there also be more than a few with hollow pages.. those perhaps better suited to doorstops in years gone by.
