Today I wanted to make another surrealist artwork, just like the last couple of weeks.
This time I was inspired by the expression, TIME FLIES, or in latin we have the expression TEMPUS FUGIT, I like to make surrealism taking expressions and words literally, taking ideas from our day to day to another dimension where anything is possible.
That's the idea!
This particular work was tricky because I was strugling with so many details, usually I draw with a few strokes but with this idea in particular that was imposible. The amount of details on the cloths and the feathers of the wings were a test fof my patience to be honest.
I think I have to work on my patience more, because, I was getting frustrated when things were not going the way I wanted.
And another thing was the cloths of the suit, that was very challenging, making shadows is a form of art by it self really.
But over all I managed to finish it! Now I have a few more ideas in the oven, while I was doing this one a few other poped out in my head, so Im happy for it!
Process
I started doing the body as usual, that was the fun part, I don't know why I think thats the part I do the faster, maybe because I have practice drawing suits in sketches.
Then comes the tricky part that puts my patience to the test, coloring the cloths, this stage was endless, making the shadows is nit that easy!
For the clock that is the head I used a reference of an alarm clock that was in the same angle with turquoise color, that was perfect in contrast with the brown suit.

I came up with the idea of making the moustache with the clockwise, and the I knew I had to make a face too, that was also tricky the faces I tried were looking too cartoonish, but I wanted to make it look serious and kind of tired, almost like a worker, a tired working man.
So after a few tries I came up with this:
This face looks still like a cartoon, but it fits the aesthetic at least!
Finally I did the sky! It and the details of the wings!
After all the process was finished I put the image to the filter app called PXLR, and I used Sophia filter and the the Anne filter.
The result
It was a beautiful challenge to make a detailed drawing, I think Im gonna try to make more complicated stuff in the future, because it's out of my comfort zone. I like that!
Sometimes I see that making art is like meditation, you end up becoming one with the project and at the end of the day that IS the goal!
Until the next time with more art!
